Product Description

Here's an early treatise by the young professor who is our current pope that focuses on Collationes in Hexaemeron. Ratzinger interprets Bonaventure's "hope for history" against remote and immediate predecessors, seeing the key to this new theology of time as Bonaventure's encounter with the prophecies of Joachim of Fiore. 268 pages, softcover. Ignatius.

Although the book contains a lot of Latin, one can still understand the thought processes. Joseph Ratzinger is brilliant in logically laying the framework for his conclusions. He is a philosopher, a theologian, a teacher, but foremost he is a priest in love with Jesus Christ. All of this is contained in this little book. It should be a classic.

This book is a superb presentation of St. Bonaventure's theology in history. Our recently retired Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI has succeeded, eminently, in offering a new hope for today and our future as Catholics, through the eyes of Bonaventure and St. Francis of Assisi. Everything that we have been experiencing in our recent world history takes on a new outlook within the context of this "Theology of History" and offers an exhilirating and creative approach to any Catholic Action in which we feeled called to. Suddenly, one begins to recognize the prophetic words of St. Louis de Montfort's "End Times" and those of others that point to a new hope and direction that will realize a more Marian, contemplative and highly spiritualized Catholic Church and world of tomorrow, as well as the means in which a true Franciscan perspective and spirituality may assist in bringing about this unified, purified and highly peaceful ideal of St. Francis. Everything in History becomes the shaping of a Heavenly Father and Incarnate God, leading mankind, the Church and its adherents to heights of truth and an unrealized beauty. It opens up a creative & vitalized approach to evangelization and education, as first established by the Apostles and early Christians, which may, very well, bring about a glorious springtime for the Church and world. Definitely, this is a must read for anyone desirous for "Thy Kingdom Come, on Earth as it is in Heaven".
