Publisher's Description

Stand-In Father

As temporary guardian to his twin baby nieces, William Barns barely knows a diaper from a burp cloth. The well-meaning but meddling neighbor ladies suggest a wife—namely Emily Jane Rodgers. Although William isn't in the market for a bride, he needs a loving woman to watch over the children, and Emily Jane fits the bill nicely.

Emily Jane agrees to care for William's nieces—not become his betrothed. Fully determined to find her own way in life and to open her own bakery, Emily Jane isn't looking for a husband. But no matter how hard she resists, Emily Jane is roped in by the twins' little hugs and William's tender regard. And soon she longs to be a permanent part of this ready-made family…

The Texan's Twin Blessings is a cute little story, one that I enjoyed. However there were quite a few things that didn't completely make sense to me as well as things I didn't like all that much. I will first start with what I did like. As I said this book is a cute little story, it was clean and I approve it for any age. 12+ to be sure. (If you're looking for a book for a younger person I thought I'd add that in, though I know everyone's definitions of what you would approve for a child are different.) Emily Jane went to Granite, Texas as a mail order bride (one of many) to Levi Westland. She was forced by her parents to answer the advertisement. However, Levi fell in love with another bride and married her. (This was a book itself, called "His Chosen Bride" Rhonda's previous book before this one.) Emily Jane, the heroine of this book was a kind and caring woman. Though she said she didn't want children or a husband at the beginning, she was loving and was quickly in love with the twins. She was determined and knew what she wanted and she wasn't afraid to go after it either. William was a gentle hero and also at first has no intention of marrying, he's an honorable gent & takes in his baby nieces when a tragedy strikes his family. The characters were likable, however there are some things I didn't care for very much. At first the twins cried very much & that grated slightly on my nerves a bit, though they are children and I understand that, I just felt like their whining was long winded shall we say? William and Emily Jane also didn't really show any signs of true feelings for each other through most of the book except when their hands brushed or something of the like. There were also other things that I disliked, due to not wanting to give the story away to someone who might want to read this book I will refrain from speaking of those things. I am still a fan of Ms. Rhonda's books and I eagerly await her next read, this just simply wasn't the best book she has ever written in my opinion. All in all I give this book three stars, honestly I probably wouldn't read it again, nevertheless I do recommend it to anyone who enjoys a cute story. I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review in which I have given.
