This time the story begins with archeologist Todd Myers having brought from the times of Jesus his love interest, Aaliyah. Hudson and Todd are called back to duty by the President after just arriving home. No rest for the weary. Todd and Hudson are suspicious of why the President is sending them back to the first century to apprehend Senator Hughes who escaped prison. How did the senator escape? Why did he go back in time?
Todd, Hudson and Aaliyah actually discover that the senator has traveled further back in time to the year 5 B.C. The senator has ensconced himself with King Herod as his prophet. The senator is now known as Aurius of Antioch and has been King Herod's prophet for the last year, even though in modern time only a few days have passed. The senator has an evil plan to enact that if successful will alter the course of human history. Todd and Hudson can't allow his plan to succeed, but how can they stop him? Aurius has the king's ear and the force of a Roman army supporting him. What can two men do against such odds? Once again, their faith guides their actions with miraculous results. Todd, Aaliyah and Hudson each have the chance to share their faith with someone. Is this a wasted effort? Can they witness and still fulfill their mission?
There is a lot of action and suspense in this thrilling story. The descriptive words made me feel like I was right there with the characters, and what they see while they travel to Bethlehem I felt like I could see as well. Those few chapters were truly breathtaking. God's plan will not be thwarted regardless of man's attempt to do so is an ongoing theme in both books. The banter between Hudson and Todd was terrific. The faith lived out in action was inspiring. The characters seem so real to me they are beginning to feel like family. I am so looking forward to the next book titled, The Imperceptible Adjustment. Great book!!
