Anonymous4 Stars Out Of 5Overall a good resourceAugust 21, 2016AnonymousQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4For starters, certainly the size of the book is a plus. With 220 pages worth of Bible puzzles in this 257+ page book, this is a good value. Each page contains one Bible activity page suitable for Sunday School or other childrens ministries, so you are getting over 200 puzzles. And you are allowed to copy the pages for use in your ministry or at home with your own children (another plus).
Each Bible puzzle includes a memory verse along with a short summary of the Bible passage from which that verse is taken. The puzzle (which can be any number of activities, such as a crossword puzzle or a word search) requires the child to interact with the Bible story or biblical concept being presented.
Often these puzzles do a wonderful job of engaging the child with the Scriptures. For example, on page 50, the puzzle is a word search of all the words in Genesis 50:20, You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. The title of this puzzle is Forgiveness. I love that children are learning about forgiveness from one of the most amazing stores of betrayal and reconciliation in the Bible.
The cover indicates that this book is for children ages 5-10. But not every puzzle is appropriate for every age in this range. Some of the puzzles are not suitable for a 5-year old child who cannot read, such as the one mentioned above. And some of the simpler puzzles may not captivate a 10-year old.
There are also a few puzzles that didnt communicate much about the biblical truth being taught in the accompanying Bible passage. For example, page 34 tells the story of Abraham and Sarah and how they waited patiently for the birth of Isaac. The Bible puzzle is to identify modern-day objects in the picture (silly things like an airplane) that dont belong in the picture of Abraham, Sarah and Isaac. I guess I thought there could have been a more direct correlation between the puzzle and the story.
Overall, though, this is a good resource that enables children to engage in activities that promote their understanding of Scripture. And thats a wonderful thing.

The Super Sized Book of Bible Puzzles presents over 220 pages of ready-to-print puzzles for children 5 to 10 years. You'll find simple activities like matching, making connections and hidden pictures for the younger ones and word searches, crossword puzzles, mazes, word scrambles, connect-the-dots and so much more for those older kids.
I think the variety of puzzles included in this book is one of the things I like best. The kids won't be bored with the same type of puzzle- every one is a bit different.
There are puzzles for 20 Old Testament books of the Bible and 8 New Testament, so you're sure to find just what you need. Each puzzle includes the Bible story and, most often, a memory verse.
And yes, it's reproducible so you can make copies for your kids and, you'll find answers to the puzzles at the back of the book.
You can buy this book as a downloadable or hardcopy. What could be easier?

Ann4 Stars Out Of 5Loads of puzzlesApril 22, 2016AnnQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5The Super Sized Book of Bible Puzzles is a gem of a resource for any Christian school or church related activity. With 220 printable pages are cataloged by the books in the bible, making it easy to find the puzzle suitable for your topic. Genesis alone has forty pages and Luke has thirty but not all books in the Bible have a puzzle. However each puzzle has a theme that can be interchanged with various stories. Each page includes a short memory verse and most have an abbreviated bible story that is familiar. Some puzzles are very easy and require no reading skills, such as matching shapes, coloring items, or solving a simple maze. While others are more difficult with numbers up to twenty and reading is required to answer the questions. The crossword puzzles and word searches are of varying levels of difficulty. The product description labels this book as appropriate for 5-10 years old. That seems reasonable. This puzzle book has enough activities for a full year of Sunday classes using two different levels of skills. The price is definitely cost effective and could be shared with several teachers. This PDF file was given to me for an honest appraisal by Rose Publishing.

If you are one of those Sunday School teachers who has in hand an excellent curriculum, but one lacking in follow-up activities that do not just review the lesson, but that stimulate thought about it, then this is the book for you! The activities are not only useful, but varied, including puzzles of different types, hidden pictures, and so, so many of the well-known stories of both Old and New Testaments are included, in some cases, with several episodes, each with its separate treatment. This book could also be very useful in the home: many parents love to read Bible stories to their children -- here is the part where listeners get to reflect further on what they have heard, at a child level. Applications of the truths taught are discussed. Rose Publishing gave me an advance copy in return for a frank review.
