KellyNCAge: 35-44Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Fun-filled Bible Activities with A lot of Variety for Different AgesSeptember 22, 2020KellyNCAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When putting together this year's Bible study curriculum for our homeschool, I decided to pair up a variety of different resources in order to create the perfect study plan for my second grader. Several of these resources are from RoseKidz, including the Super-Sized Book of Bible Coloring & Art and The Super-Sized Book of Bible Activities. Both books have already been tremendously helpful in our day to day Bible learning activities. I mention these two books, because I personally find that having both allows some variety in mixing and matching fun, age-appropriate activities into our lessons.
Like the matching coloring book, this really is "super-sized" with over 175 different Bible related activities to choose from. I love that the table of contents offers a break down of activities by which book of the Bible they correlate with. For example, if we are studying the events in Exodus, I can take a peek at the table of contents and find eleven different activities that we can partake in.
All pages are reproducible, so they can be used with multiple children. Another fantastic feature is the fact that the activities vary in difficulty, so they can be used with multiple ages and grade levels (the suggested age range is five through ten years old). Some activities are as simple as a coloring page. For instance, there is a page (similar to a color by number activity) that asks children to color in all the spaces that contain a vowel. After doing so, they will discover a secret message. There's even an answer key in the back of the book just in case kids get stumped. Other activities include putting together crafts such as creating Noah's Ark or a prayer box (under the Book of Jonah activities for "Praying for God's Forgiveness"). I really appreciate the variety of activities included, because there's pretty much something for everyone (from games to art to crafts). All of the activities also offer a passage from the Bible, which is wonderful for scripture memorization. One activity that we have planned in the near future is called "Sing to the Lord" and includes the verse from Psalm 47:6, "Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises!" This activity involves putting together a rhythm band by creating a collection of musical instruments using everyday household items and craft supplies.
This really is a wonderful activity book that matches fun, hands-on activities to Bible stories. The activities are offered in the same order as the books in the Bible, starting with Genesis in the Old Testament and moving forward with the New Testament, so there is consistency and order. The book is a perfect addition to any Bible study program, but it can also be used for personal enjoyment, especially if you have children who enjoy partaking in hands-on activities. The real plus is that they will also be learning about the Bible as they partake in these activities.
