Biblical authority is often considered one of the implications of a dogmatic or systematic approach to the study of Scriptural doctrines. It is not however, the whole of the Bible's approach to the subject of Biblical authority. In The Structure of Biblical Authority Meredith Kline shows how Scripture's authority is not just related to its ontology, but that in its economic forms, Scripture is a covenant document and this is ultimately where its intrinsic authority comes from. In other words, it is the means by which God both binds himself to his people, and his people are bound to him.
