This is probably more appropriate for upper elementary children then for teens. My high school son was offended because he felt belittled. Furthermore there are serious mistakes in the DVD, I did not watch it completely but here are some. Joseph is called Jacob's youngest son - but, that was Benjamin. The spies looked at the city of Canaan - it's a region/land. King Saul killed himself because all his sons were killed - one of Saul's son survived and Saul killed himself because he was wounded in battle and did not want to fall in the hands of his enemies.
I purchased this curriculum to use with our youth group, and it has been wonderful so far. It is just what our young people need! It gives them such a wonderful foundation in God's Word to see the Bible as one seamless story and to be able to understand the "Upper Story" of the purpose of Redemption woven throughout all the "Lower Stories" that comprise most of the Bible. The activities engage the young people and encourage them to dig deeper and continue to learn. The video chapters are amazing, with great visuals that help convey the Story for that lesson, and the teacher's curriculum is great! I truly recommend The Story: DVD Curriculum for Teens.....the hearts of your teens will never be the same!
Would categorize this video as the Bible 'light'. It is ok as a very cursory overview but from what I've viewed so far - not very impressive. I teach children from 11 - 16 years old and am teaching Bible literacy. Thought this would be good to use but after viewing was disappointed. Would maybe use as an overview / introduction - but still need much more indepth materials to teach the Bible.
