Product Description

This touching story will strike a deep chord with readers of all ages, and the Sparkle Egg tradition will help readers and their families grasp the totality of God's perfect grace.

Easter is coming, and Sam loves Easter but this year he is upset about a lie he told his parents. Although he apologized and they forgave him, Sam can't shake the feeling that he is a bad kid because of it. Meanwhile, his parents help him make a special Easter craft called a Sparkle Egg and tell him to write anything he feels sorry about or ashamed of on a piece of paper and put it inside of his Egg.

On Easter morning, Sam wakes up and finds his Sparkle Egg empty! His parents explain that because Jesus died and rose again, we are forgiven. . . and much like Jesus' empty tomb that first Easter, Sam's egg is empty and his wrong doing is completely forgiven! Once he accepts this forgiveness fully, Sam realizes a truth: we can sparkle and shine with God's light when we let God's gift of grace into our hearts.

This book is amazing! It brings the promises of Easter--God's love and forgiveness to the everyday life of a child. It gives a concrete way for the child to really see why Jesus died for us and what that really means. It is a must read for every Christian child.

The Sparkle Egg, written by Jill Hardie and illustrated by Christine Kornacki, is a hardback children's book for kids in the 4-8 year old age bracket. The story is one that a child will understand and not your typical telling a lie to not get in trouble. I think it is a story that can lead to further discussions on honesty, especially with the increasing "not my fault" attitudes that are too prevalent. While there is a lesson to be learned about the importance of honesty, there is an even greater one taught on forgiveness.

Honestly? I am much older than the recommended age group, and I got something out of the book too. The book is subtitled A Symbol of the True Promise of Easter, and it does deliver the message. The simple, yet effective, teaching on forgiveness and the reason Jesus died for us is told on a level that a child can have a rudimentary understanding, yet has that core of truth that all believers need to grasp.

    About the Author:

Jill Hardie's first book, The Sparkle Box, ignited a new Christmas tradition that helps center Christmas in the true joy of the season. Now Jill is hoping to touch lives with a new Easter tradition with The Sparkle Egg. She lives in North Canton, Ohio.

Christine Kornacki illustrated the highly acclaimed books The Sparkle Box and The First Christmas Night. At a very early age, she developed a love for painting and bringing stories to life. Christine received a BFA in illustration from the University of Hartford and enjoys spending her days painting in her studio in Stamford, Connecticut.

    My Review:

When you think of the Easter holiday, what do you think about or envision? Chocolate bunnies, hunting eggs, baskets of goodies all sound goo and can be mighty fun and delicious. But is that what Easter is truly all about? No, its not. It is about God coming down and walking this earth to die on a cross in order to redeem us unto himself. Jesus died on Good Friday and rose out of the tomb on Easter morning. He did this in order for us to be able to be forgiven of our sins.

The Sparkle Egg, is a terrific book to teach children all about what our loving Father did for us, His children. The Sparkle Egg is a special Easter version of the The Sparkle Box which is a fun, unique Christmas story. In this version entitled The Sparkle Egg, Sam does something to dishonor himself and God and truly feels guilty about it. Guilty, until his parents show him a way to seek forgiveness and true repentance. For my readers out there, my sponsor has provided a book to give to a luck reader. So please enter below to win a copy of this special book. Good Luck!
