Who's in control of this world---God or the devil? In this best-selling classic, A.W. Pink answers such profound questions in a language the average Christian layperson will find not only understandable but totally engaging. Arthur Walkington Pink (April 1, 1886 - July 15, 1952) was an evangelist and biblical scholar known for his Calvinist and Puritan teachings. Born in England, Pink became a Christian in his early 20s and emigrated to the United States to study at Moody Bible Institute. He pastored churches in Australia and England before returning to the U.S. to pastor churches in Colorado, California, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Pink returned to England in 1934, turning his Christian service toward writing books and pamphlets. After his death, his works were republished by the Banner of Truth Trust and reached a much wider audience as a result, making him one of the most influential evangelical authors in the second half of the twentieth century. His writing sparked a revival of expository preaching and focused readers' hearts on biblical living. His works include numerous Bible studies and books such as The Attributes of God, The Doctrine of Justification, The Patience of God, and The Total Depravity of Man.

Allen HayniePasadena, TXAge: 55-65Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5The Sovereignty of God by AW PinkMarch 13, 2016Allen HayniePasadena, TXAge: 55-65Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In his book The Sovereignty of God, A.W. Pink explains that God is the first cause of all that exists and that all things are under His rule and control. Nothing happens outside of Gods direction or His permission and that Gods purpose will never be overruled or thwarted. The book shows us that God has absolute and unquestionable authority over all of His creation and in the salvation of man. The discussion in the book covers the doctrine of the Atonement, election, predestination, depravity, and reprobation. Pink shows the reader how the eternal plan of God is being worked out in time and we learn about Gods actions and methods through His providential care of His creation. The author also discusses the relationship between God's sovereignty and the human will, Gods sovereignty and prayer and finally he describes the appropriate attitude Christians should have towards God's sovereignty. This book is thorough and abundantly supported by Scripture references throughout. The Sovereignty of God should be one of the most (if not the most) comforting doctrines in the Bible for Christians.

bunnymontrealAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Amazing book for those in the Charismatic ChurchApril 18, 2013bunnymontrealAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I highlighted so much of this book it glows in the dark! This book really helped me to see the true heart of most of the unsaved. It was a hard read and it especially hurt because it revealed the error of my own church in allowing sinners to believe that they are saved because they said a little prayer to Jesus. It was also a great comfort because it showed that God is in control of everything. I came out of the Charismatic Church with its emphasis on Satan and how he wants to hurt, destroy, possess and make you sick...so this book really puts Satan in his place! I pray that all Christians would read this book and be comforted and informed to the glory of God.
