As romance quickly blooms, Jed pens a new song and suddenly finds himself catapulted into stardom. But with this life of fame comes temptation, the same temptation that lured his father so many years ago.
Set in the fertile mid-South, this quest for success leads Jed and Rose on a journey that will force them to deal with the pain of loss, failure, and the desire to be who God created them to be.
Lyrical and deeply honest, The Song asks the hard questions of love and forgiveness. When even the wisest of men are fools in love, can true love persevere?

RachelGender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Awesome!!September 24, 2015RachelGender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I absolutely loved this book! I have found a new favorite author in Chris Fabry. This book is beautifully written and made me want to see the movie even more. The way this book intertwines the Song of Solomon and the story of the main characters is amazing. Such a great biblical emphasis throughout the book. The characters were wonderfully done. Each one was real to life and believable and engaging. I was so engrossed in this book and I couldn't put it down. It amazes me how well Chris can take the script of a movie and make it into a need to read, can't put it down book. I will always read stuff by Chris when it is made available to me. His style and talent make it easy to read and enjoy his books.
This book is a beautiful journey through the art and struggle of marriage and of how forgiveness is possible if we can only try to forgive. This story is emotional and heart warming and somewhat sensual and private all at the same time. It does have a few love scenes that are emotionally charged. Nothing inappropriate but definitely eye opening. I cannot wait to see this movie but I know that it cannot possibly be as good as this book is. Read it and I promise you will feel the same.
I was blessed with a copy of this book by TBCN in exchange for my review. A positive review was not required.
DonnaGeorgiaAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Christian fictionAugust 15, 2015DonnaGeorgiaAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have read several of Chris Fabry's books and loved each one. Chris puts so much in his stories. Love, faith, relationships, hardships, temptations, and forgiveness turning each one into a wonderful story that you won't want to put down and with strong characters that reflect real people. I've never heard of a book being written from a movie script. Usually the book comes first and then the script. Chris has done an outstanding job in writing this book from the script. Hope to see the movie.
The Song is taken from the Song of Solomon, a love story with scripture woven into the book.
The main characters are Jed whose father was a famous musician. Rather than being known as David King's son Jed wants to make his own way to stardom. Rose is a young naive girl raised on a vineyard with her loving father. They are both strong in their faith. When Jed meets Rose he falls in love with her, writes her a love song and is catapulted into fame and fortune. Jed hires a female singer Shelby who cares only about herself and her needs. Jed is a man of faith but temptations begin to take hold of him and he starts to make some bad choices. How will Shelby influence Jed? How will Shelby, temptations, fame and fortune effect Jed and Rose's marriage? A wonderful read and I highly recommend this book.

***** 5 Stars
Being a fan of Chris Fabrey's writing, I was happy to receive this book for review from bookfun.org. The book is based on a movie so it is unlike his other books in the sense that it does not have the wit his other books are known for. Once I got use to that aspect of the story being different from what I expected, I found the book to be a really thoughtful story of pressures that many married couples encounter and how belief in God can help get them through really tough times.
The book shows how distance can put a nearly insurmountable wedge in a marriage. Protections against falling into various temptations need to be set up from the start when husbands and wives are going in separate directions for employment or family obligations. Many types of work require time away from home so though this story revolves around the music industry, with required touring of musicians, I think many readers can see their situations to be susceptible to similar temptations.
I can see how the movie would have been an enhancement with hearing the written songs in the book actually sung. Now I want to see the movie for that reason. I liked how words from the Bible were woven in to the songs and book. Also, I appreciated that the character's prayers were included to give depth to the spiritual side of the story. Great contrast showed between the responsible life that gives true freedom in Christ as opposed to the false sense of freedom from abuse of alcohol, drugs, and sex. I hope that anyone who reads this or sees the movie who see themselves being portrayed caught up in the false life will get rehab help needed as the character Jed did in the novel.
Thanks to bookfun.org and the publisher for sending this book for my honest review after reading it. I think it will especially appeal to younger people who frequent concert events because of all the background insight into what touring is all about. It is a good book for anyone who needs to consider strengthening their marriage against the hazards that tear a couple away from each other.
grammy4 Stars Out Of 5A good readJune 19, 2015grammyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I really enjoyed this book. It was well written, the characters were well thought out and clear. It was not cluttered with a lot of unnecessary fluff. It deals with love, marriage, and sin. It is not a preachy book, though God is mentioned throughout. It shows how our sins not only affect us, but others as well. It also shows the value of true repentance. There was only one thing about this book that I didn't care for. That was there was too much information about marital relations. Not graphic information, but more detail than was needed. More than I was comfortable reading about. Again, nothing inappropriate, just too much for my taste. I recommend this book. I was given this book in exchange for my honest review
