Mack Philips took his children on a camping trip. The boys wanted to squeeze one last canoe ride in before the trip home. Mack rushes to help, when their canoe capsizes. That's when the unspeakable happened! Mack's youngest daughter was abducted by a child predator. After a massive search, evidence of Missy showed up at an abandoned cabin. Although they never found her body, everyone knew the worst had happened. For the next four years "a great sadness" fell over Mack and his family, until a note from God showed up in his mailbox. What happens next will move you to a greater understanding of God's unfailing love for us all.

Because of the sheer volume of error and because of the importance of the doctrines reinvented by the author, I would encourage Christians, and especially young Christians, to decline this invitation to meet with God in The Shack. It is not worth reading for the story and certainly not worth reading for the theology. -- Tim Challies

Llnda5 Stars Out Of 5Read at least two timesSeptember 30, 2017LlndaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5An excellent book that needs at least two readings. You read the first time to see what happens and the second time to get the full meaning of the lessons. Good reading even if you don't want to have to think things through.
Chris5 Stars Out Of 5Amazing!June 28, 2017ChrisQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I had heard about this book shortly after it came out in bookstores, but I never bought it until recently. What an amazing and unique perspective of Faith in God, learning to forgive, and opening your mind to a different perspective of what God may look like. I highly recommend this book for anyone who may be dealing with a difficult situation of trying to forgive. I will be keeping this on my reading list for years to come.

Julie5 Stars Out Of 5Great story!April 21, 2017JulieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Read this book, saw the movie, now I'm reading the book again. Paul Young is an excellent author but this story has taken on a life of it's own. The story allows us to visit with the Trinity in a way never before told. It allows us to see that God is moved by our infirmities and loves us beyond compare. He is not sitting on His throne waiting for us to make a mistake, but is waiting on us to call upon Him in time of need. Mr. Young lets us see a loving Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Purchase the book and keep it on your shelf to read again and again!
