Celebrate an unforgettable classic with this beautifully illustrated 100th anniversary edition.
This 100th anniversary paperback includes Tasha Tudor’s iconic illustrations, an extended author biography, activities, and more, making it the perfect collector’s edition or a wonderful gift for young readers.
When orphaned Mary Lennox comes to live at her uncle's great house on the Yorkshire Moors, she finds it full of secrets. The mansion has nearly one hundred rooms, and her uncle keeps himself locked up. And at night, she hears the sound of crying down one of the long corridors.
The gardens surrounding the large property are Mary's only escape. Then, Mary discovers a secret garden, surrounded by walls and locked with a missing key. With the help of two unexpected companions, Mary discovers a way in—and becomes determined to bring the garden back to life.
Frances Hodgson Burnett was a born storyteller. Even as a young child, her greatest pleasure was in making up stories and acting them out, using her dolls as characters. She wrote over forty books, including the classic A Little Princess, also illustrated by Tasha Tudor.
Tasha Tudor's detailed, delicate artwork has been cherished by millions of readers. She illustrated nearly one hundred books, and received multiple awards and honors, including two Caldecott Honors.
Susan Lawlor5 Stars Out Of 5April 9, 2010Susan LawlorUsed this and "Treasures of the Snow" as sort of a devotional booklet when my children were young to talk of spiritual application. I recently had my daughter tell me that she would like to find this book to share with her children (my grandchildren) as an addition to family devotional time. CBD still had it.
Kathy5 Stars Out Of 5March 16, 2006KathyThis story is one of my all time favorites! Mary Lennox is a spoiled child in British ruled India but after she looses everything and goes to live in Yorkshire at Misselwhaite Manor life begins to change for her. Here Mary meets the people who wil shape her future, Dickon, Colin,a gardner and the robin who leads the way. Miss Hodgson's literary style and plot are brillant! Tasha Tudor's artistry enhances the story by helping to tell it. I would recommend watching the "Secret Garden" movie either by Wonder Works or Warner Brothers as a follow up to reading this timeless classic.
