    Not what I expected

I have loved everything I have read from Lisa Wingate, but this book didn't meet the same standards. Perhaps if I had known it was a

"novella" before reading I would have had proper expectations. The characters were shallow, and even Elizabeth was not well-developed. I would have loved to see this fleshed out more thoroughly, as the components had great potential. It was an ok read, but a disappointment from this author.

    The Sea Glass Sisters

The more time that passes before it happens, the better. ~First line

This story captured me quickly. The opening scene is filled with urgency and there is an electricity in the air during the 911 call and search for Emily.

Elizabeth Gallagher is an interesting character and easy to sympathize with. And her mother, Sharon, and Aunt Sandy add so much to the story. The East Coast setting in North Carolina, is a character on its own. The hurricane gives an ominous feel rather than a sunny beach atmosphere. I experienced so many emotions and was fully immersed in the Outer Banks sea air, and enjoyed getting to know these characters, Sandy's Sea Shell Shop, and the family ties and dynamics.

The Sea Glass Sisters is a stirring story sharing the importance of family and faith while we weather life's storms.

Every decision you make in life has benefits and consequences. Sometimes you just have to go on faith, and even that comes at a price. It means you have to give up the idea that you're the one in charge of the universe. ~Quote from The Sea Glass Sisters

I've never read anything by Lisa Wingate that I didn't love.

The Sea Glass Sisters is a heartwarming, inspiring read. It's a prequel to The Prayer Box, and introduces wonderful, warm, unforgettable characters.

Family is important, especially the relationship between women, the nurturers of the human race. This story reveals the dynamics between sisters and daughters.

If you've ever lived on an island, or wanted to, you'll enjoy this book.

This is a novella and prequel to the novel The Prayer Box. Because it is a novella, it is rather short and a light read. I did enjoy it but wished for more of the story and what happened to the characters. Maybe I will find out when I read The Prayer Box.

I enjoyed this book. Nothing deep but just a nice story about two sisters who have drifted apart and don't see eye to eye. Sometimes we just need to take the time to see life from someone else's perspective.
