Readerofbooks5 Stars Out Of 5Spiritual Values Fiber of StoryMarch 3, 2020ReaderofbooksQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I received the 3rd book of this series free from the publishers. But after reading that book I decided to go back and read book #1 and book #2 of the series: The Sea Before Us and The Sky Above Us. I'm just so impressed I have to write another blog! There are three brothers and each book is about a brother who joins a different branch of the armed services. Each brother has his own battles not only on the war front but inside himself. Yes each book is action packed and filled with tender romance but what really impressed me is how naturally the author weaves spiritual truths into the conversations, thoughts, and actions of each character. In Sundin's books Christian values aren't just tacked on as an afterthought. They are the very fiber of her stories.
KimP5 Stars Out Of 5A moving WW2 novelMay 22, 2019KimPQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Sky Above Us by Sarah Sundin is the second book in her Sunrise at Normandy series. Adler Paxton fled from his home in Texas three years ago. Running from his mistakes and the guilt, he joins the Army as an airplane pilot. Stationed in England in the days leading up to the invasion of France at Normandy he meets Red Cross volunteer, Violet Lindstrom. Adler and Violet not only must learn to trust in each other but in a loving and forgiving God. I love World War 2 stories but this one went above and beyond. The history was well woven in, the action was believable and the romance was sweet. What else could you want? The underlying theme of repentance and forgiveness was a great reminder that all we have to do is truly be sorry and ask for forgiveness. The healing that comes afterward is so sweet and refreshing. I can't wait for the next book!
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

With historical accuracy and in-depth descriptions placing the reader right in the middle of the action, the frantic days (January-June 1944) leading up to D-Day and those involved in developing the perfect plan to implement on that day unfold in this powerful story. We are taken to three countries: England, France and Scotland over this time period. Much of the historical information shared of those days leading up to D-Day I was not aware of. In the midst of all the planning and urgency love is in the air; but is it advisable to begin a romance in the middle of war? Dorthy Fairfax, a Wren (Women's Royal Navy Service), and American Lt. Wyatt Paxton face that very question. They both have past heartaches, circumstances and problems in their lives; will they learn to rely more on the Lord in these times as well as in good times? Long held secrets are revealed and surprising twists and turns in the characters' lives and the war. I appreciate the spiritual elements woven within the story-line. I enjoy reading the historical notes the author includes at the end of the book. A powerful, heartwarming story.
~I also received a copy of this book from the author/publisher (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~
