When her parents are killed in an accident, Lena Rose Schwartz and her nine siblings must find new places to live. The younger ones are sent to the homes of relatives in the area, but Lena is told there isn’t room left for her. Thus begins a new adventure for Lena, miles from the only home and family she’s ever known – and the beau she thought would soon propose – in far-off Lancaster County. Will she be leaving for good, or eventually find the road home?

Yet even as Lena Rose holds on to hope for a reunion with those she loves most, she discovers that Lancaster holds charms of its own. Is she willing to open her heart to new possibilities?
Sent from Michigan to Pennsylvania following the tragic death of her Amish parents, Lena Rose Schwartz grieves her loss and the separation from her nine siblings. Beside the fact that Lena has never been so far from home, she hasn't met the family she will now be living with. But worse than that is having to live apart from her close-knit brothers and sisters. How will they manage without her to care for them--especially six-year-old Chris? And will her new beau, Hans Bontrager, continue to court her despite the many miles between them? Yet even as Lena Rose holds on to hope for a reunion with those she loves most, she discovers that Lancaster holds charms of its own. Is she willing to open her heart to new possibilities?
JenGalaxy4 Christian Book Reviews5 Stars Out Of 5The Road Home by Beverly LewisApril 5, 2018JenGalaxy4 Christian Book ReviewsQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Im happy to say this book is another win for Beverly Lewis! This book is told by a master storyteller through her warm and gentle voice. I truly felt like I was in Lancaster County with Lena Rose Schwartz, experiencing everything along side her.
I loved this book! Simply just loved it! I loved its warmth. I loved its heart. I loved seeing people genuinely care for each other. I loved its wholesome, prayerful and beautiful story.
This story wasnt without its share of sadness. Poor Lena Rose is displaced from her younger siblings after the tragic loss of her parents, sent to live with cousins shes never met. However, its what Lena did with the situation that made all the difference. She never lost hope. She never gave up her faith. She prayed, held on tight to God and stayed faithful as she hoped Gods plan for her was the one she was praying for. Shes an excellent role model for us all.
This story was refreshing with very little English (non Amish) influence. It was also void of most modern technology, not just because it was an Amish story, but because it took place in 1977 with no cel phones or computers. What a lovely change of pace!
Its sometimes hard to write a glowing review for a book you loved because you dont want to give away the story. I highly recommend this book to fans of Beverly Lewis, fans of Amish fiction and fans of well written, good books!

The author has focused on the oldest, a girl Lena Rose, and you will quickly grow to love and respect her, but what a hard road she is put on. She is required to leave her home and family in Michigan and go and live in Pennsylvania and we follow her in her journey.
I found myself quickly torn as to where I wanted her to end up, back in Michigan, or with the new life she has found, and the new people who have come to care so much about her.,
A really sweet read that will make you think and sure not want to walk in this girls shoes, or maybe you will, she is an inspiration.
Once you turn the final page you are going to be longing for more, and if only!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.
