This six-session small group Bible study, The Reason for God, captures live and unscripted conversations with a group of people to address their doubts and objections to Christianity. Using literature, philosophy, and Scripture, Keller and the group explore the truth of Christianity.
In his New York Times bestselling book The Reason for God, Timothy Keller established himself as a modern-day C. S. Lewis who brings together faith and intellect, theology and popular culture, modern-day objections and historic Christian beliefs.
Now fans of the book will find resources to help them engage with those same objections, drawing on recent scholarship and debates. The Reason for God small group Bible study can be used individually, with groups, or by any believer who is engaging with friends who dont share his or her beliefs.
Christians will be challenged to wrestle with their friends and neighbors hardest questions, and to engage those questions in ways that will spark an honest, enriching, and humbling dialogue, as is modeled during the sessions.
The Reason for God DVD is designed to help small groups and individuals dig deeper into objections of the Christian faith and to learn about both sides of the issues.

The discourses on the various subjects have contributed to my thinking. But I think his approach to the skeptics is equally valuable. I have learned from the dvd what I would not have learned from the book.
I think one important aspect of the discussion is to give the best possible voice to objections rather than build straw men to knock down. Another value of the dvd is the emphasis on the gentle approach to answering objections.
Cathy5 Stars Out Of 5Want to be able to talk about God?June 8, 2012CathyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This video is a wonderful explanation of common issues non-believers have with Christianity. It is useful, demonstrating how to avoid polarization and churchy language. I have used it with multiple groups and all have found it informative and engaging.
Pattern1 Stars Out Of 5DisappointingSeptember 12, 2011PatternQuality: 3Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I was expecting some well thought-out answers to some big questions... Perhaps even some unique perspective on the conclusions most Christians have already reached on these questions. Instead I watched non-Christians offer their predictable views on the various subjects. This was then concluded by Mr. Keller finishing by offering his less than engaging points to ponder.

We were captivated by the video segments, and we had a difficult time cutting off the discussions each night. What I find especially helpful in this presentation is how Keller modeled an uncompromising and yet very gracious witness style that quickly created a sense of safe environment for his participants to share their objections. It was fascinating to see the members of his group warm up to Keller, and become increasingly less defensive and more open to consider what Keller had to say. I can't say enough good about this material. We decided to continue meeting with another of Keller's series.
Q: Does each session build off one another?
No, each session can be used independently of the others.
Q: How many sessions and how long is each session?
There are six sessions. As the item hasn't yet been released, at this time we don't have all the details regarding the length of each session; however, the total length of the DVD is two hours.
Q: Is the DVD of The REason for God-Tim Keller, someone reading the book for audio?
The DVD is not someone reading the book. The DVD is a group of people discussing six common objections to Christianity. Discussions include:

â¢Discussion 2: How Can You Say There Is Only One Way to God? What About Other Religions?
â¢Discussion 3: What Gives You the Right to Tell Me How to Live My Life? Why Are There So Many Rules?
â¢Discussion 4: Why Does God Allow Suffering? Why Is There So Much Evil in the World?
â¢Discussion 5: Why Is the Church Responsible for So Much Injustice? Why Are Christians Such Hypocrites?
â¢Discussion 6: How Can God Be Full of Love and Wrath at the Same Time? How Can God Send Good People to Hell?
