I have used the TRB since October 2022 when our Bible study group began studying Genesis. The scripture reads easier than other modern translations, but the main improvement is the many charts, maps, lists, and drawings that help make genealogies, travels, tabernacle descriptions, and pictures of the tabernacle items logical and understandable. (The genealogy is listed in genealogical chart form, and the tabernacle items, etc. are listed in an inventory style, plus having drawings of each.) This has brought Genesis and Exodus to life. I look forward to reading and studying the rest of the Bible.

I was so impressed with The Readable Bible that I gave three as Christmas gifts.

My wife and I owned a Christian bookstore for 40 years, and I wish The Readable Bible had been available for us to show our customers. I believe if you try it, you will love it, also.

This morning I went online to see if "The Readable Bible" was going to be available to order by its release date of November 1st. To my surprise, it can be pre-ordered today. I have ordered a few copies.

But let me introduce myself. Rod Laughlin, the project originator, and I met in 1973 when we were both students at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. We were both in our thirties and our families lived in the same subdivision. Our children were about the same age, so we become good friends during the next 3 years.

About 6 years ago, I found out about Rod's project of presenting the Bible in not only modern English, but also in modern formats. Soon after that, I was able to stop by the Kansas City area to visit with Rod and Becky. Rod showed me the progress his team had made. I was amazed at how thorough the work was being done, and how organized they were. I joined as one of dozens of people who were involved in proofreading The Readable Bible text. I am overwhelmed at the accuracy of the work that has been done and I am rejoicing with the whole team upon the publishing of the results of their efforts, an incredibly readable Bible. The text is very literal, yet so readable. I can whole heartedly recommend this new, modern presentation of the Bible. May our Lord Jesus Christ get the glory as you us it "to draw near to Him" and "He draws near to you".

This Bible lives up to its advertised claims. The formatting really does make such a difference. It's the only version of the Bible that has made reading Numbers and Leviticus a joy! I use it to teach my elementary age children. It's my fvaorite book to just pick up and read. I wish it came in digital form too, so I could take it on the go with me. My only critique would be the cover and binding are a bit flimsy. I already have damage from regular reading, after less than a month of use. I can see myself needing to replace it, or strengthening the cover in some way.

I've been looking for a new bible for some time. My current one is so filled with highlighting and notes, its almost unusable. A friend told me about a new bible (The Readable Bible) being published and I ordered one. I prefer a translation over paraphrase or amplified formats and this one hit the mark. What I like most about it is the effort made to add maps, charts and diagrams throughout the text rather than in an appendix. The information is where you need it most...with the text. The subject headings in the text are clear and very helpful. A very valuable addition is the use of outline formats throughout to enhance the reader's ability to grasp the message in the text more easily. The Glossary in the back gives clear definitions of many of the terms the average reader may not understand. Overall, I highly recommend this new format either as a primary resource for scripture or as a resource to augment an existing translation/paraphrase.

I just received The Readable Bible and compared it with an earlier edition (review of earlier printing is shown below). I was very pleased to see book name and chapter numbers printed at the top of each page and that the paper is smoother and whiter than before. The print looks sharper and darker and seems easier to read. It looks like all of my concerns with the first printing have been addressed and resolved.

The rest of The Readable Bible is thankfully the same easier-to-read, nontraditional format with all of the charts, tables, pictures, graphs, and appendices that were in the first printing.

    Review on December 21, 2022:

I really enjoyed reading The Readable Bible because the layout, formatting, really does help me with comprehension. Reading doesn't come easy to me, so having the Bible laid out like it is minimizes my struggle to understand. Like most people in this country, I have many Bibles I could read, but The Readable Bible is now my "go to" Bible.
