This is one.February 20, 2017reaganmarshGeorgiaAge: Under 18Gender: MaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0An excellent, helpful book for those who wish to become more like Christ. Bridges is steeped in Scripture, and its wisdom comes out plainly and accessibly on every page. His emphasis on practical godliness is refreshing.
I led our Theology Breakfast folks through this book, and it was life-changing for them. Two items of particular help for us were his chapter on indwelling sin and his emphasis on "obedience, not victory."
One particular aspect of the book I appreciated was that his illustrations are appropriate, but they don't drive the bus the way so many modern books use them. Rather, exposition of Scripture does the work, and application drives it home to the reader's life.
Extremely well-done. Highly recommended for all Christians who desire to grow in Christ; mandatory reading for pastors, elders, deacons, and biblical counselors.
