Author/Artist Review

Author: Merrilee Franklin
Located in: Garland, TX
Submitted: September 19, 2014

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a retired teacher, married, two children and four grandchildren.

What was your motivation behind this project?  My goals are to instill the love of reading for all children. “To pretend is to lose oneself in a real-life game of make believe.” Merrilee Franklin

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  Adults as well as children will enjoy the narrative that follows throughout the lives of six generations of children as they pretend and play on THE PORCH of their stately old home. The chronological history is well documented as well as the timeline and the memorabilia.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I have received so much pleasure, hearing the favorable reviews of this novel! Adults as well as young readers find it an easy read. “If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.” Rudyard Kipling

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Famous and not so famous people that have made an impact on society because of their hard work and perseverance!
