Product Description

Tory Hedderman is a typical, self-centered 16-year-old with the motto, "If it doesn't have to do with me, why should I care?" However, when Tory is caught vandalizing a statue of a World War I vet, he is ordered to perform community service at a local veterans' home where he comes face to face with those who teach him about the sacrifices that have been made for our country. The Pledge is an uplifting family drama that features footage of real veterans sharing their thoughts on patriotism, freedom, and the attitudes of today's generation toward the true price of freedom. Dove approved. Approx. 118 minutes.

Great characters, realistic. Brings out patriotism and its importance. If you can overlook the "ghost" which could be an angel appearing unaware then watch this film it will touch you.

the makers of this film did an excellent job touching all the bases on the topic of war and patriotism, with the pledge of allegiance being the center piece of symbolism for these topics. if the viewer is looking for a christian film, they may be disappointed because one of the main characters ( warning, here comes a minor 'spoiler' of the multisurprise ending) turns out to be a ghost....the film has a wide mixture of wonderfully written and portrayed characters, from those who embrace a liberal, pacifist perspective, to those who are conservative and very patriotic. it does not judge the liberals, but does take the position of conservative patriotism. the producers show the many sides of the issue very well through these portrayals. the Bruce character shows how even patriotism can be turned to use for self and selfish purposes..... a mixture of what seems to be true life veteran testimonies give it great power. great wisdom in one vet's words: "when you say the pledge, it's not to the government in Washington or their current ideology, but to your neighbor, the people who live next door to you. that's what makes the pledge powerful".
