The way it was written led me to believe there was a sequel, but I can't find any mention of one in any listing of Davis Bunn's books. Since it was published in 2014, I would expect one to be out by now. Though the book was slow moving at times, mainly in the passages about the history of Patmos and the other islands, there was enough action at other times to keep me interested. The Greek mamas and aunts made me laugh at times. If the book had a more resolved ending, or if there was a sequel that continued the story, it would be easier to recommend it. As is, I can say if you enjoy history with some action, you might enjoy this book, but don't expect to feel good at the ending. Davis Bunn has written enough books that he should know better than to end a book in the way he did.

I have been to Greece, and enjoyed the history and cultural aspects. I enjoyed the characters developed. But the ending left me hanging. I really dislike pushing to the end of a good book, turning the page to an empty spot and saying "What???". So disappointing.

Someone is stealing Greek antiquities. Nick Hennessy, journalist, Carey Mathers, forensic archaeologist and Dimitri Rubinos, tour-boat operator, will eventually join forces to find the culprit and put an end to the smuggling. I have been fortunate enough to have been to Greece. I was even at Patmos. What goes on in this book was not part of the tour. Get ready for an exciting suspense ride as The Patmos Deception is a thriller, which simply means that everyones lives are in danger from practically page one. During the course of this investigation the trio will encounter villains, treachery and life-threatening situations that will keep you flipping the pages as fast as you can read. The lead characters are terrific and we root for them as we live through their various heart-throbbing encounters. Davis Bunn does a truly remarkable job in this book while exciting us with this story that everyone will enjoy.

A slow start while the Characters are explained, Had to chug along until Carey gets to Greece. Interesting weaving of characters, infused with some humor. If you like Greek history and archaeology, this is the book for you. Mystery, suspense and wanna be Romance. If you stick with it, it's a decent read.
