Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I have often compared my life to that of Job. Or at the very least, I certainly have been able to understand empathetically the depths of his pain. There has been a lot. But, I have also drawn great strength and encouragement from his words, because at the end of the day, I feel his lament wasn't so much as to know the "whys" but the "who" is the real God. Job wasn't told on this side of heaven the "why" he was told that the "who" was to be trusted with things well beyond what his humanness could ever comprehend. He was told that he was cared for, provided for, uniquely designed, as all of life is. But most of all, he was called "My friend" by God himself. And God shared His gifts with Job because Job shared his gift with God; his faithfulness of heart. This is the God-friend whom I serve every day of my life.

What was your motivation behind this project?  When these prayer poems were written, I was going through yet another season of great transition; the toughest transition of my adult life. I turned to God Himself, asking Him to show me He truly was everywhere; for my part, I committed to every day (I chose mornings before I got caught up in the day) to meet with Him over coffee, as good friends often do. I made a vow to Him and myself to find at least one thing each day, no matter how bleak my soul felt, that proclaimed His beauty. Usually, I did the outdoors. There's just something about being surrounded by His element creations which awaken each of the 5 senses He gave to us. Indoors, I still practiced this, taking care to supplement anything I was lacking from being outside. These prayer poems were born of this daily get-together with God. The more I did it, the more I hungered for it, and was inspired to write our experience down.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  Simply to feel His presence is indeed everywhere. He doesn't hold Himself back from us; we only must seek Him and we will find Him without fail. To believe that the God of all creation longs for our company...is incredible to say the least.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  My 5 senses were awakened like never before! Not only did I know "Jesus loves me" I felt it as well.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Besides Jesus of course, I'd say the Psalmist, David, because he released all of his emotions through writing...raw, real, up close and personal. No detail of how he was feeling at the time was hidden from the reader. He probably was also inspired by Job who did the same.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  "Be still..." He is with you. (Psalm 46:10)
