Davalynn SpencerColoradoAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A merry-heart readAugust 13, 2013Davalynn SpencerColoradoAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for The Pastor's Wife Wears Biker Boots - eBook.Pastor Aaron Donovan isn't perfect, but his wife is--perfectly hilarious. Kirsten Donovan is not what some of the congregation think she should be, but she's exactly what others need to keep their spirits charged and their engines revved. With three sons, an over-sized dog, crazy friends, and a hankering for the rush of the wind in her face, Kirsten meets life with a gentle grace--and big black leather biker boots.
With unpredictable hilarity, author Karla Akins captures the trials and triumphs of life as a pastor's wife, complete with autistic kids, dogs, grumpy congregants, motorcycle gangs and all. I'm getting a copy for my pastor's wife! -
Tom ThreadgillAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Great read for a rainy day!August 13, 2013Tom ThreadgillAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for The Pastor's Wife Wears Biker Boots - eBook.Funny and heartwarming... two words that describe this book. From the first page I recognized some of the same characters that inhabit every church, big or small. The author uses humor, romance, and drama to show how God works on human hearts. This is not a preachy novel, and shows Christians as they really are, doubting, questioning, and ultimately trusting. Highly recommended!

MMH99USAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Entertaining & interestingAugust 13, 2013MMH99USAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for The Pastor's Wife Wears Biker Boots - eBook. So often in our world Christians are viewed as pious people who look down on others. Unfortunately, there are those. But in reality, there are many that are 'for real' in every way. Pastor's wife, Kirstie & her family, are for real & relatable. She has real struggles, real insecurities, a REAL husband (LOL), & deals with the reality of autism in her life, so prevalent for many in our day. She also has friends who are believers, & friends who are not. Her ability to connect with those who do not share her faith help lead them to the Savior who loves all & wants all to come to Him. He did not come to save the 'perfect', as there is no such thing, believer or not. And that is obvious too in some self-righteous church members, who are a constant source of opportunity for growth (ahem) for Kirstie. This story, that can parallel lives or at least be relatable for so many of us, takes many interesting twists & turns (some quite literally). It took me through a range of emotions, excitement at what was coming, wonder at some mysteries & when/if they would be solved, to a very unexpected climax. I highly recommend "The Pastor's Wife Wears Biker Boots" - especially good for bathtub/vaca/beach/lawn chair reading, or a bit of 'down time' enjoyment. But warning - you may not want to put it down!
