I used this as a resource for a Bible Study on the parables. So many of parables are sort of understandable, but there is something that doesn't quite translate from those time to ours. As the daughter of a farmer, I didn't quite get throwing seed on hard ground, thin ground, rocky ground and good soil until Barclay explained the "community gardens" of the day. I didn't really understand in the unforgiving servant that it wasn't just about a debt, but about a debt so massive that it would probably never be paid in full. This book added a new depth of meaning to so many of these familiar stories.
