GingerS2194 Stars Out Of 5Worth the time to readFebruary 8, 2012GingerS219Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4The Other Side of Darkness sounds sinister and evil, but in reality it is a very inspirational suspense story because on "the other side of darkness" is "a place where hope" dwells and that hope can only be found in Jesus.
Sometimes, you know you like a book, but can't quite put your finger on the exact reason, or reasons. That's where I am. I enjoyed every moment of reading the story. I didn't find it frightening, but definitely eye-opening. Haven sounded like a wonderful place to hide and recover and I, too, love the smell of hyacinths. It reminded me of my childhood home.
If you like suspense, with just a touch of romance, you will like The Other Side of Darkness.
Carole TowrissSilver Spring, MDAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A Tortured TrioFebruary 5, 2012Carole TowrissSilver Spring, MDAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Sam, Jonathan and Zack are a trio of tortured souls. The Other Side of Darkness is the tale of how God works in their lives, together and separately, to heal each of them.
The legal thriller element was exciting and well done. Although the scenes from the antagonist's point of view were few, he provided major tension right up to the end.
The romance part definitely didn't follow formula. Sam is quite a confused woman, and the ending was not what I expected, but was still very satisfying.
The secondary characters were an amusing and quirky lot without becoming cliché or detracting from the main plot. The message of forgiveness is clear without hitting anyone over the head and without sermons. The town of Haven was beautifully described.
The Other Side of Darkness is an enjoyable read. Anyone who enjoys romantic legal thrillers or romantic suspense would enjoy this book.

With a touch of humor, a jolt of suspense, and confusing attraction all jumbled together, she leads you through quite a winding tale. I honestly wasn't sure how it would all endââ¬âand I really love it when that happens!
From her untimely meeting with a moose, Assistant District Atty. Samantha Knowles weaves her way down an unmarked path leading her to a life she never expected, and certainly never planned. And although choices are taken out of her hands, it's quite obvious that God's hand is guiding her all the way.
The rest of the cast of characters is a wonderful mix of people, too. I certainly hope you get to meet them.
