    A great devotional! Whether she's pruning lilacs in her backyard, sharing a story about her dog, or reminiscing about her children, Sandra Byrd invites you in for a generous helping of spiritual insight and encouragement. She's funny, down-to-earth, and transparent as she shows us that God is with us even in everyday moments at home. I find myself thinking about the applications throughout the day which makes me alert to God's prompting on my heart in the day-to-day. Lovely.

    Over the years I've purchased, received, and given away a lot of devotionals, but this one has fast become my all-time favorite.

    Written in a warm and friendly tone, The One Year Home & Garden Devotions by Sandra Byrd is filled with inspiring and sometimes humorous anecdotes about the author's personal experiences in the home and garden.

    I think it was a fun and clever idea to start each month with one of the following: a household tip (example: how to make scented linen water), ideas for garden areas (example: gorgeous garden pots), or a favorite recipe (example: bait beef stroganoff).

    Although the devotional was written with females in mind, a great many men are not only handy around the house, they also like to cook and spend time in the yard and garden. More importantly, the life lessons and Bible verses included apply to both men and women. My manly husband decided to take a look, and he's also been enjoying the book.

    The One Year Home and Garden Devotion book is a lovely devotional for women who enjoy tidying up their home and refreshing their lives - spiritually and physically. Each month begins with a helpful tip or recipe for the home such as Cordon Rose Cheesecake, Scented Linen Water, and Heavenly Scented Sea Salts.

    The devotions start out with something concerning the home or garden such as Fresh Flowers, Light Breezes, Washcloths, and Treasured Recipes and from these topics the author shares how we can apply God's Word and truths to our every day lives. While the devotions were good and encouraging I felt some of them could have had more depth for spiritual growth and instruction. Overall I would recommend this devotional and I give it 4 stars.

    I have included a small part of today's devotion which is one I thoroughly enjoyed.

    "Mold grows in the dark. In order to get rid of the mold, we not only have to dry things up, we have to lighten them up too. There is mold in our lives, too. The parts of us that we don't want to grow, that aren't healthy, that we believe to be ugly - well, they thrive in the dark. We keep secret the things we consider to be shameful about ourselves. The truth is that light heals, light strengthens, light brings life. -{September 18th }

    Many thanks to the author for allowing me to read and review The One Year Home and Garden Devotions.
