RachelTulsa, OklahomaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Did not disappoint!November 28, 2013RachelTulsa, OklahomaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I've always been able to count on Master Books (a division of New Leaf Publishing Group) to publish fascinating, cutting edge information in the area of Creation Science. The New Answers Book 4 did not disappoint. Edited by Ken Ham and written by many different scientists, The New Answers Book 4 addresses many questions relevant to scientific issues of today.
Chapter one is written by Ken Ham. Many of you may recognize him as being associated with Answers In Genesis. Some of you, even those who are Christians, may react with negative emotions when you hear or read his name. He's taken quite a stand for what he believes, and many people don't like it. Unfortunately though, if you have not taken the time to be exposed to him firsthand and instead have only heard things about him, you may have a very wrong impression. Chapter one was written to set at least one misunderstanding associated with his name straight: Does the Gospel depend on a young earth?
Whether you think the answer is yes or no, that question may raise your blood pressure a little. Ken Ham has been represented as claiming that belief in a young earth is the only way to salvation. Chapter one sets this misunderstanding to rest. Salvation is only found in Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which man must be saved. Ken Ham does NOT teach, nor believe, that you must believe in a young earth to be saved.
Having set that straight, he does point out the very true fact that all doctrines in the Bible, including salvation through Jesus Christ, are rooted in Genesis. That makes the issue of a young earth monumentally important.
Continuing on past chapter one, I found particularly interesting the answers to the following questions:
Were dragons real?
Was Charles Darwin a Christian?
Were there really cavemen?
Should there be a battle between science and the Bible?
What are the best evidences of a young earth?
Were people originally dumb brutes?
What about living fossils?
Are there transitional forms in the fossil record?
What about beneficial mutation?
Does embryology prove evolution?
Is speciation evidence for Creation or Evolution?
When I came to the question, Are Genetically Modified Organisms wrong?, I was disappointed by the answer. But mainly I was disappointed because it conflicted with the way I would answer it. However, I always welcome opposing viewpoints and enjoy getting other perspectives. This answer was written by Dr. Andrew Fabich who concluded that GMOs are not morally wrong. He further said that we just don't have enough information on their effects to know if they are good or bad for us physically. Well, thanks Dr. Fabich, but I think I'll avoid them for the next 50 years and let those who feel comfortable with being the guinea pigs fill that role.
Overall, The New Answers Book 4 was filled with great information by leading Creation scientists. It would be a great addition to anyone's personal library.
I am grateful to New Leaf Publishing Group for providing me with a free copy of The New Answers Book 4 in exchange for an honest review of this book. -
pirategrl1014Mesquite, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The New Answers Book 4December 5, 2013pirategrl1014Mesquite, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is the 4th book in the New Answer's series. Although this book was incredibly interesting, it was not an easy read. I used this book as part of my homeschooling with my kids 7,13, and 18 and I have to admit, there is so much in this book it's hard to absorb it all as quickly as we tried to. This is a book for those who already have a pretty good understanding of the Bible and the controversy surrounding.
This book starts off with Ken Ham touching on a very emotional subject for most-the Earth's age. No matter if you believe in the Young Earth theory or not, Ken makes it very clear that Jesus is the only path to salvation. I loved how it nipped it all in the bud and set his good name straight with that little bit of controversy surrounding him.
There are so many fantastic and fascinating questions that this book answers that I decided to list a few out that were favorites in our house,:
Were dragons real?
Were there really cavemen?
Should there be a battle between science and the Bible?
Were people originally dumb brutes?
What about beneficial mutation?
Is speciation evidence for Creation or Evolution?
You may quickly notice a theme, but I really liked how the authors touched on each of these questions. These were the topics that drew in my kids and had them fascinated and engaged. They were astonished that there was actually a book and a Godly book, that answered, or tried to, these questions. That had to be one of my favorite things about this book- it drew my kids in by asking the questions that matter to them, that keep them thinking and it gave them biblical truth to stand on when talking about these topics.
A frequent argument we have in our home is the belief that scientist-real scientist-cannot believe in God. I adored how the group of authors that wrote this book were people like
Danny Faulkner, who has a Ph.D. in astronomy, Dr. David Menton, with a PhD in cell biology, and professor of anatomy at Washington University School of Medicine,Dr. Andrew Snelling a PhD in geology from the University in Sydney. All men of God that are "real" scientist.
I can easily recommend this book for families, home educators, youth groups, and others who are fascinated with science, the earth and Christ. This book will deepen your faith and challenge your belief system.

HopeUSAAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Another Great Answers BookNovember 25, 2013HopeUSAAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am so excited!! New Leaf Publishing recently published the New Answers Book 4-obviously, the 4th book in the Answers series. I own and have read the first 3 books in the series multiple times, and they are easily my favorite series of books. So of course I was excited to learn that a 4th book was being published, and even more excited to be able to review it!
I received The New Answers Book 4 from New Leaf Publishing for my review. This book contains over 30 common questions about the origins of life, creation vs. evolution, and other Bible questions, and gives a Scriptural answer for each one. If you have ever had a question about the creation-evolution debate, this book is for you. Questions answered include: Do Plants and Leaves Die? Dragons...Were They Real? What About Living Fossils? How Big Is The Universe? and, Is Speciation Evidence For Creation or Evolution? One thing I really enjoy about this book, is that your questions are answered honestly and using the Bible as the foundation. Yes, science is used, but above all, God's Word is held as the final authority. Another "neat" thing about the Answers Series, is that the questions are answered by scientists and experts in their respective fields. For example, the questions about cosmology are answered by men like Danny Faulkner, who has a Ph.D. in astronomy. Various biology questions are responded to by Dr. David Menton, with a PhD in cell biology, and is also a professor of anatomy at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Andrew Snelling, who answers many geology questions, has a PhD in geology from the University in Sydney. So as you can see, these men are fully qualified; not the uneducated, foolish "Bible-thumpers" that many say the creationists are!
I am really enjoying the Answers Book 4, although I haven't finished it yet. I tend to read through these a little slower, because there's so much information to digest! The best part though, is having this "handbook" on my shelf so when I have a specific question, or someone asks about something, I can refer back to my Answers Book Series! -
Renee K5 Stars Out Of 5November 20, 2013Renee KQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is 33 chapters packed with information about creation/evolution and the Bible. It has various authors that have written different chapters in this book.
What caught my attention was the chapter on cavemen. This has been a topic of discussion in my family after the kids watched a certain animated movie. I didn't know how to explain it to my kids. So I read this chapter to my kids and we had some great discussions about the topic. Then my son confiscated the book and read several chapters. His favorite was the dragons/dinosaurs.
This is a great addition to your library for those times when you just know what you know form God's word but, you just can't seem to put it in words. There are lots of fascinating topics within the pages of this book.
This is not a sit down and read book for me but something that I can go to when I have questions or when my kids ask me hard to explain question about the Bible, creation, and evolution.

Heidi5 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic!November 5, 2013HeidiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I received this book free in exchange for sharing my opinion. I think the more we can learn about our Bible and world the more equipped we will be to face the world. There are so many times when my kids ask me a question or even a friend and I have no idea how to answer it. The New Answers Book 4 is one of those books that can help equip you to answer some tough and fun questions.
This book is brought to you by Ken Ham founder of Answers in Genesis. Once again I am thrilled by the support he brings to the questions. He works a lot with apologetics and this is something I always struggle with as I think many Christians do. This book is a step in the right direction.
We enjoyed going through several of the questions as a family! I think the favorite was from chapter 3. Dragons... Are they real? In this book there are several authors who write the chapters each having backgrounds in that particular field of study and they really give you the facts, and back it up with science and Bible scriptures. At the same time it is enjoyable to read.
I think this would be a great book for youth groups or even adult group studies, but it is also terrific on it's own or to go over with your own family!
