As much as I love Jan Karon's book, purchasing The Mitford Snowmen:A Christmas Story was a waste of my money. It is the only one of her books of which I have felt that way, and I believe I have read them all.
I so enjoy Jan Karon, however this was a book with children-friendly illustrations, that read like an excerpt from one of her adult stories. It was too short to satisfy an adult, but too adult to interest a child. Makes a pretty table-top book at Christmas time.(:
I enjoyed the Mitford series not only for the wholesome characters that makes you want to keep reading and reading but also for the way the Gospel is interwoven as part of the everyday life - as it should be with each Christian. Sharing this series with a friend is also a way to share the Gift of Jesus Christ.
The Mitford Series is the most delightful reading I've ever done and I read constantly. I'm eagerly awaiting the continuance of "Life in Mitford" and sincerely wish to find more books as enjoyable to read.
