Product Description

When high school student Jake Casper finds a small wooden box in the attic of his grandpa's antique store, his life is forever changed, especially when he discovers a secret compartment that appears to contain a nail used during Christ's crucifixion. Now, the more Jake learns of the power within the box and its purpose, the more obstacles he must overcome to get the box to a stranger before it's too late.

A powerful faith-based film, The Messenger's Box includes lessons on bullying and being a single mother, as well as the message to never underestimate the power within your heart. Approx. 90 minutes.

i want to always encourage people to make films about Christ and the Gospel. this story is unique and creative. i can see a tremendous amount of work went into it (as in all feature films). there is an old saying in the film business: 'your first film is not your third film'. this film, although lifting the Name of Christ, shows a learning process in film making. i believe the makers are on their way to greater films. 'despise not the day of small things'. the humor (mostly two offbeat characters) kind of missed but, again, the producers are growing in their craft.

i don't believe it is worth the eleven dollars paid, but neither do i feel 'ripped off', because it did build my faith and a friend's as we watched it. it is just not 'a keeper'. i noticed two actors from a previous film (different director, producer, writer, but, perhaps a production company connection). 'Christmas Grace' was an independent film that had an excellent message and moved the story in production better.

the acting was fairly good, the photography excellent. the story needed to move quicker. there was conflict, but it needed to be directed and edited towards climax a bit. somewhat predictable. on the bright side, no bad language, gratuitous sexuality or violence. PG for some minor violence and bullying, flashes of the Crucifixion, thematic elements.

i wish all involved in the project well and keep trying towards that third, or next film. God will do great things. thank you all for lifting up His holy Name in film. as always, i wish the best for all who are making choices for their family viewing. : )

Author/Artist Review

Author: Janie Smith

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am 54 years old and love writing Christian stories. I have 5 grandchildren ranging from the ages of 4 to 15 years of age. I have lived in Texas all my life.

What was your motivation behind this project?  My motivation behind this project was that I have always been curious about the things that Jesus used here on earth. Like the baskets that were filled to feed 5000 people. What happened to those baskets. What happened to the sandals that Jesus wore? Could some of these things be in an antique shop somewhere in America? Who knows?

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope that teenagers and young adults come to the conclusion after viewing this movie that we all go through thing in our lives that will take us to a place where we must stop and listen to what our heart tells us to do.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I was personally impacted in a way that only I can describe as amazing. I told my story to my daughter before I wrote it and she said she could actually see the whole story on a giant movie screen. I think that was confirmation from above for me to go ahead with it. I did and now my movie script will be seen all over America. Amazing and humbling experience for me

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I love Pastor John Hagee, Pastor Charles Stanley.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  If I could say anything to my viewers, it's that if you feel like you need to be doing something that you can't wrap your mind around, it could be your calling has surfaced and it's time to get to work. God bless you.
