i have been reading the bible for forty-seven years. at 20 my first bible was king james then twenty years later it was the new king james. now it is the new king james and the message. the message has no wiggle room. you rarely have to ask "what does that mean" if you have struggled and thought you needed a teacher...this bible is for you...it is not a paraphrased edition as some say. it was translated from the original texts. in fact all scripture is paraphrased in that you have to translate. the word paraphrase dictionary meaning....a restatement of a text or passage in another form or other words, often to clarify meaning...which is what a translation is. you will be thrilled...read it with your other bible...i've been reading this translation as it came out in separate books, as the translation progressed...i give it a 10. i only wish the large cheapest one came in a soft cover...as you cannot send a hard cover into prisons or jails.

This translation is by far my favorite, contemporary translation to date! The time and work that Dr. Peterson put in to interpret this godly gift to all of Gods people is an absolute blessing! The price and quality of the imitation leather looks and feels very expensive. I had this personalized for a very near and dear surgeon that was about to perform a quality of life changing operation, as a small token of mine and my familys thanks. He is muslim but I felt that God put it in my heart to witness and the surgeon was so appreciative! Dont pass up on this bible b/c you wont regret it! Praying for everyone whos reading this and whos going through adversity and circumstances that only our heavenly Father can cure! DONT GIVE UP ON GOD, NEVER LOSE FAITH & NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF HOPE! This book is a great addition to my religious studies. It is refreshing to review after spending time in other reference sources. Plain English and clear to meaning. I find no fault with this edition. As I have said before, there is no standard text for God's word. If one starts reading, in whatever text, and the "author" shows up and inspires your life, then the word is divine. Don't prejudge on you own bias.

An excellent purchase for the price. I love the Message Bible, and I bought this one for a friend who is not a Christian. I am hoping that because it is so easy to read, she might just open it and begin reading! The cover is a beautiful color and feels like leather. The large print is perfect for those of us who are a little older!
