EB5 Stars Out Of 5Still a favoriteOctober 22, 2021EBI am an adult now, but I LOVED the Mandie series when I was a preteen. In fact, I still have the whole series in my book collection. As an avid reader my whole life, I would highly recommend this series. It is clean but fun reading!
Horse lover2 Stars Out Of 5Inappropriate for my age groupJanuary 6, 2018Horse loverQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 1I am 12 years old and I love mysteries. My mom bought the whole Mandie series and I was super excited to start reading them. I read the first three books and began to realize that there is too much inappropriate romance between the young characters (Ages 11-13). It is very unnecessary. Mandie is a 11 year-old and a kid named Joe, who has been her childhood friend, asks her to marry him when they grow up. They hold hands frequently and he even kisses her on the cheeks. There is also lots of crushes and jealousy. I decided not to read the remainder of the series because of this. The age range for this book is supposed to be 8-13, but I suggest it is a book for 15+ year-olds. But even then, the fact that the main characters are preteens and behaving this way is very inappropriate. I wish that this content wasn't in there, because the mysteries on their own would've been great.

This was her first introduction to the Mandie series and she was drawn to the historical feel to it as well as the mysteries. I like that it is a Christian series. She could not put it down. She read all five books in two weeks and can't wait to get more!
Sofia Marie4 Stars Out Of 5Review of the first book of the seriesJune 26, 2016Sofia MarieQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3When her father dies Mandie is left with her unfeeling mother and cruel sister. Things don't get better when she is sent to a neighbor's farm two miles away to live. Mandie's two friends are Joe, an old schoolmate and great comfort, and Uncle Ned - her father's faithful Cherokee friend. Will she be able to run to safety with Uncle Ned? Will she finally get to know the truth about her family? Where does the secret tunnel lead to? Does God still love her?
This book teaches important life lessons. Why does God take our loved ones? Is it because we did something wrong? Will God love us after this? Can we trust God fully? The whole focus isn't so much on God, but He is certainly very important. Mandie and the Secret Tunnel will entertain you as well as show that God really cares. This is the first book of the series Mandie books.
