I couldn't wait to read this book and I was not disappointed. Sheila is always so candid and uplifting in her books. Everything I read by her so blesses my life. I loved the way she wrote about David's struggles and intertwined it with her life decisions and struggles. Sheila always makes me feel God's love when I read her books. Don't miss this one.

In this book, Sheila shares candidly about her life, her choices, her heartbreaks and the breakthroughs that God has brought her way. She draws lessons from these experiences, some of which are very painful indeed.

She addresses the longings in every womans heart, the longing to be chosen, the longing to be protected, the longing for what used to be, the longing for control, the longing for your rights, the longing for that one thing you think you need to be happy, the longing to make everything right, the longing for what would glorify god, the longing to share the grace and mercy weve received from God and the longing for God alone.

Sheila walks the reader through each of these longings, shows how she experienced them in her life, and how God can heal every womans heart.

The book is written in an easy to read manner, and because of the candidness and intensity with which Sheila writes, one cannot help but pause after each chapter to reflect on what has been written and what one can do about ones own life.

This author has been through pain. She has been deceived and she has been walking in truth. She has been on the mountain and in the valley. Her words echo what my heart has felt through each chapter. She shares how everything we crave leads to the Heart of God. I can read each chapter and relate to her emotions and feelings. Each chapter highlights a different longing we each have. The longing to be chosen, to be protected, for what used to be, for control, for your rights, for God alone, and so on. I believe she has uncovered and exposed each one and, with Gods help, the knowledge can be used to free us as children of God.

I would highly recommend this book to a friend, as I already have. Looking forward to more work from this author.

Shelia tells the story of acceptance and working on your self esteem in this book. She covers many topics that women go through in today's world, self image, control, chosen, protection, needing to be happy and many more. She uses her own life experiences, the story of David from the bible and back up of bible verses that cover each subject.

I would recommend this to women that want/need to work on feeling better about themselves and finding GOD's word to help you through these times. This book can be used as a just a reading book, a bible study or a group study. I would recommend this for those that need that extra assurance that GOD does love you no matter what.

"The Longing in Me" shows how your desires are meant to be fulfilled in God. Each chapter has a theme, like the longing to be chosen, to be protected, or to be in control. The author used examples from her own life and King David's life to show how trying to fill good desires in the wrong way can lead to pain but can lead to freedom and healing when fulfilled in the right way.

She explored what those desires were intended for and how we may try to fill them. She based her advice on what Scripture teaches and shows grace toward others as someone who has "been there." The author was open about her own hurts and failures, and she's very encouraging toward the reader. The book is targeted mainly at women, but anyone can benefit from it. I'd recommend this book to people who feel stuck in a cycle of bad choices.

I received this book as a review copy from the publisher through BookLook.
