This review was written for The Long Loneliness: An Autobiography.
I knew very little about Dorothy Day before reading "The Long Loneliness" and what amount I knew, I found fascinating. I figured that her autobiography would be a good place to start to learn more and I was not let down. While this was written twenty years before her death, one learns so much about her life — about her childhood, her radical views on theology, life, politics etc as well as her daughter and Peter Maurin. While I don't agree with everything Dorothy Day did or supported, I still find her a captivating figure and one to look up to. For anyone interested in 20th century Catholicism, history, politics or wanting to just learn more about the infamous Dorothy Day and the Catholic Worker movement, this book is for you.
