JoanCharlotte, TNAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Heartfelt, Lyrical StoryMay 3, 2018JoanCharlotte, TNAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0As expected, Laura Frantz delivers another heartfelt, lyrical read, while bringing the beginnings of the American Revolution and the setting of Williamsburg, Virginia, and its environs to vivid life. I love how the characters and their individual dilemmas are believably rendered in this story. Elisabeth Lawson, the quiet, fragile daughter of a Tory leader, is abandoned by both her father and her fiance, forcing her to find her way for the first time, all alone. She finds a courage she didn't know she had, and amid the fearful challenges she faces, she also finds herself coming under the protection of a truly worthy romantic hero: leading patriot, Noble Rynallt. He is not only a man of noble appearance, but also one of unshakable integrity, purposeful passion, and steadfast loyalty to his country and to those he loves. I was particularly drawn in by the details of Noble's Welsh heritage, skillfully woven into evocative descriptions of Ty Mawr and Ty Bryn, and I thoroughly appreciate the spiritual insights woven throughout. Well done again, Ms. Frantz!

DianFlowW. Columbia, SCAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5A Breathtaking Novel!January 20, 2018DianFlowW. Columbia, SCAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5With a sweep of her magical quill...er, keys rather, author Laura Frantz has penned another historical masterpiece -- fraught with dangerous liaisons, divided loyalties, opulent balls and frippery, and a slowly simmering romance! The lovely Lady Elisabeth is caught between her loyalty to her motherland England, and the charming Patriot who continually comes to her rescue. Never have I met a more dashing hero than Noble Rynallt...handsome (loved that long, soot-colored queue hanging down his back-ahem!), strong, courageous, and willing to fight if necessary for our country's freedom from British rule. Just as the division between the Loyalists and Patriots fan the flames for an all out war in colonial Williamsburg, Lady "Libby" cannot douse the smoldering embers growing in her heart for this radical revolutionary.
Savoring the beauty of Ms. Frantz's descriptive poetic prose, I was enraptured from chapter one with the first "pinch of her stays" to the "pale pink peonies" dancing in the wind. I've also dubbed her the queen of romantic tension as I found myself saying numerous times in exasperation, "Would you just kiss her already!" lol An exciting tale of faith, hope, and love amidst tumultuous times that will keep you on tenterhooks throughout -- The Lacemaker is a beauty of a novel that will cause your heart to soar to another place and time you'll be sore displeased to leave. -
homesteadingHampton Roads -- VAAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Well-crafted!!!January 2, 2019homesteadingHampton Roads -- VAAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleThis is my first Laura Frantz book. I now understand what all the buzz is about surrounding her stories. The Lacemaker is an extraordinary narrative with thrilling intrigue and swoon worthy romance but the most fascinating aspect of the story for me is the rich historical detail surrounding a monumental time in our nations history. The imagery is enthralling even when a couple of things seem implausible. I also appreciate the fact the author chose not to portray Liberty (Lady Elisabeth) as mercurial but instead brought forth a strong independent character who rose to the occasion when faced with harrowing and destitute circumstances. Seeing Liberty's growth was a fine addition, increasing my overall enjoyment of the story. When it comes to Liberty and Noble's relationship, Frantz's ability to write a tension-filled romantic scene without any inappropriateness at all is astounding! One of the best authors I've read who writes them with class and sophistication. I highly recommend this book to anyone. I read a library copy and was not required to write a review.

MrsTinaFrederick, MDAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Tha Lacemaker by Laura FrantzJune 22, 2018MrsTinaFrederick, MDAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for The Lacemaker - eBook. The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz
I love the way Laura Frantz incorporates history into the fictional characters' lives as if they actually lived within 1770's Colonial Williamsburg. I enjoyed watching Elisabeth "Liberty" Lawson as she matures into a strong woman of character and faith as she overcomes the challenges forced upon her by the conflict. Patriot Noble Rynallt is an honorable man of noble character (he was named well) and a man of integrity. I love his strength and the way he looks out for those in need. The Lacemaker is a suspenseful story of love with memorable and unique characters, betrayal, new beginnings, love and faith. A heartwarming story.
