TabbyohioAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5So glad I purchased this, wish I'd purchased moreJanuary 12, 2014TabbyohioAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Mother Angelica recommended this and I went straight away to the CBD website and added it to my list. After a quick search I was not surprised to see the CBD price was the best around. In my opinion, Mother Angelica's recommendation beats any review I could write and the description above says it all. Thank you CBD for offering this hardback Bible at such a great price.

The book itself is of high quality and well worth the money.

Jim Henley5 Stars Out Of 5May 6, 2009Jim HenleyI love this translation! When I went to Christ for the Nations (1979-1981) I bought and 8-translation New Testament that contained the Jerusalem Bible New Testament. Only after I bought a book by Prof. Peter Kreeft did I learn that J.R.R. Tolkien had translated the book of Job for the Jerusalem Bible, reader's edition. The entire Old Testament is beautifully translated into modern English; I did find one scripture I had trouble understanding-- Isa. 29:14; "very well, I shall have to go on BEING PRODIGAL OF PRODIGIOUS PRODIGIES WITH THIS PEOPLE." I found this amusing, and I highly recommend this Bible translation. The binding is beautiful, and I have no complaints whatever!

berryfColumbia, MOAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5This Bible is comfortable and easy to readNovember 17, 2013berryfColumbia, MOAge: Over 65Gender: maleI have several different version of the Bible. This is my favorite because, without dumbing down the language, or syntax throughout, it is linguistically superior to most modern versions of the Bible that I have read. I especially like the fact that it is published in a single column. It is comprehensively cross-referenced, and the notes on each page are likewise easy to read and understand. It is a Catholic version containing the deuterocanonical books.

Jeffrey Canniff5 Stars Out Of 5January 16, 2009Jeffrey CanniffI aquire my first copy of the Jerusalem Bible when it was initially published by DoubleDay. I found the readers edition to easy to read and very well notated with foonotes, along with direct notes on editorial errors made in the oringal text that it was translated from. I am glad that they have republished it.
