Ive received The Imitation of Christ and I am exceptionally pleased with this purchase and this version. Construction and craftsmanship are excellent and the materials are very good. The leather binding makes this book a genuine pleasure to hold and read. While the paper used is first-rate, perhaps a top quality Bible Paper would have served somewhat better. The compact size is nearly perfect for holding one-handed while reading and the font size is sufficiently large for comfortable reading. (At least for my eyes.)The size also makes this version very portable, so that spare moments while out and about can be redeemed with useful study, while still being large enough for a soothing yet profitable bedside reader. My favorite aspect of this volume is this particular translation. I have read and owned several versions of this enduring classic but this translation is without doubt the most expressive, poetic and inspiring Ive experienced. An unsurpassable value for an exceptionally reasonable price.

From what I heard this is a 600 yr old devotion. The words still hold so true. Also Dag Hammerstahl(sp) had in his possesion when he was killed in a plane crash. Hard to aspire to be like Christ-yet I try.

The content was great! However I found that the size was bothersome. Compared to the 8.5" x 5.5" sized books that are available, I would not buy this product for myself nor for someone else. Was expecting a "normal" sized book.

I have several different versions of this classic. I try to gleam from the writings daily. I splurged on this particular version. It is well crafted. It is small - not necessarily a detriment. So why four stars? There are a number of English translations for this work and the translation for this product is more archaic than others I own. It is a nice buy but the most important aspect of a book are the words that are in it. It is still a good read!
