Tell us a little about yourself. I am an ordained minister and having been in church all of my life, and preaching for almost 30 years. I am also a praise and worship leader, retreat facilitator and music workshop clinician.
What was your motivation behind this project? I have experienced so many different instances of "church hurt", and in an effort to find some relief and release, I began journaling about my experiences. It was during that time that God spoke to me to share what I had gone through in order to help someone else.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I want people to realize that church hurt is more common than we want to admit, and that they are not the only ones to have experienced it. I also want them to know that they can survive their experiences, and grow as a Christian as a result of their hurtful experiences.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I began writing this book while I was still in my pain, and as a result of seeking God's help to overcome my hurt, I realized that all things do work together for the good of them that love God. I also realized that God never deserts us. Even in our painful situations, He's working on our behalf to make us stronger and better.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I love to hear Bishop T.D. Jakes and Bishop Noel Jones deliver the Word. They make it plain and applicable, and both of them have had hurtful experiences that they were willing to share in order for their audiences to have hope and faith in God.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: God has a plan for all of us. Every road or path may not be comfortable, but in the end if you stay with God, you will benefit from following His plan for your life.
