MaryAnnORAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Dramatic Amish TaleAugust 22, 2023MaryAnnORAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5An endearing book by a much-loved author of touching Amish stories that deal with real-life issues. This new series about a family of auctioneers offers insights into unexpected struggles as Toby Miller shies away from marrying since he will be away from home so much. Rachelle Lapp loves teaching children with special needs, including her young brother and Toby's little sister. When her world gets turned upside-down, she flounders. The two each struggle to trust God for their future and for their special siblings. I really enjoyed the story, although it did seem to drag a bit in the middle. Then some traumas and twists really ramped it up. I look forward to the next one in the series. I received a copy from the author, publisher. All opinions are my own.

I love all of Ms. Irvins books, but this series has an added touch of the heart. I fell in love with Sadie and Jonah from the moment I was introduced to them. They were each so different and the author portrayed them so well. Rachelle was an amazing teacher and I fell in love with her character. Toby took a little getting used to, but I loved Micah. Each person had hurts they needed to overcome and each couple complimented each other. The story felt very realistic and the people were written so well they could have been my best friends. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher but was under no obligation to write a review. All opinions are mine.

The premise of the book is so touching, and the characters come alive in Irvin's skillful work. I love the families pictured here, and the way the author deals with sensitive subjects. Oh, how words make ALL the difference; whether crafting a story or in our speech and how we deal with certain subjects. This might be one of my favorite stories Kelly Irvin has written.
S.Chapel ReviewsSouthern OhioAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Toby and Rachelle's StoryJune 22, 2023S.Chapel ReviewsSouthern OhioAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Sweet Amish Romance at its best! Author Kelly Irvin treats her readers to the first book in her new series. I found The Hearts Bidding to be a very entertaining and meaningful story. Irvin skillfully blends romance into this heart felt story about teaching developmental and physically disabled Amish students in a one room Amish school house. Rachelle Lapp loves her special students and excells in her field. When the parents committee of the Lees Gulch Amish School decides to send out their special students to an English school that offers more than Rachelle can give them she finds herself facing unemployment. Though her heart is broken she wants what is best for her students. What lies ahead for Rachelle when all she wants to do is teach?
Tobby Miller works in the families auction business as an auctioneer. Five months out of the year he and the men in his family travel to wherever business takes them. Toby has always been too busy for Romance but when pretty School teacher Rachelle Lapp turns his head and sets his heart aflutter he tries to ignore his feelings . What woman would want a man that is never at home. Still he can not help but be drawn to her. Would Rachelle agree to let him court her or would his heart be broken if she rejected him as his first love did years ago ?
I recommend The Hearts Bidding to readers of Amish Fiction and Christian Fiction and to fans of Kelly Irvin. This is book one to the Authors new series The Calling. This book is scheduled to be released on August the first of 2023

We are given a girl whose heart loves teaching, and her job is teaching the children with special needs. Rachelle Lapp is a young Amish woman, and is one of 13 children, with a brother being special. She has a gift, and we watch her students bloom under her guidance.
We also meet Toby, a traveling auctioneer, he also has a special needs sister, and these two, Rachelle and Toby and thrown together by matchmaking parents, siblings, and community.
This is a page turner, and a heart warming read, yes, there are ups and downs, but this is a Faith based story, and I loved it!
Now I can't wait for the next book in this series!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zondervan, and was not required to give a positive review.
