GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Leap FirstAugust 19, 2020GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I would not have thought that the action could get any tenser and more suspenseful than it was in the first book of this series. However, the author has certainly ramped things up as Jake Silver leaps first, no matter the risk to himself, and deals with whatever comes his way as a result of his actions. Dr. Aria Sinclair is more by-the-book, wanting to know the outcome before she acts. One of my favorite characters is Mimi who runs a resort in Key West where Aria has gone for a conference plus some rest and relaxation. Mimi, who suffers from COPD, has a close relationship with God and offers so much wisdom when she is able to get enough breath to speak. Both Jake and Aria benefit from her wise words as she struggles to share some of the valuable lessons she has learned over the course of her life. We all need people with great wisdom to speak into our lives, but we also must be willing to hear them. The story shares some valuable lessons through Mimi and several others. I believe you will enjoy the action as the Global Search and Rescue series continues.

arkmom5 Stars Out Of 5A must read!July 19, 2020arkmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Susan May Warren's second book in the Global Search and Rescue series. Fantastic author!
Jake Silver is an ex-Navy Seal who now works for Jones Inc. Jake is a hero-type who jumps into danger impulsively. He would gladly risk his own life to save another. He has a past. He blames himself for the loss of his younger sister-something that happened when they were kids. Maybe this is his need to rescue others now. He helped rescue Aria Sinclair on Denali. They got quite close there, but things ended rather abruptly.
Aria is a top-notch pediatric heart surgeon. Her career choice, also, stems from her past. Being born with a defective heart, and sitting alone watching the other children play was tough. She lives with the fact that she now lives a very productive, although very lonely, life because inside her chest beats the heart of someone near and dear to her. With that comes guilt.
Aria has barely just arrived in the Florida Keys when a hurricane strikes. Who, but Jake shows up to rescue her!
Loved this story! Action packed story with a happy ending.

The Heart of a Hero features Jake and Aria -- who readers got to know a little through an excellent setup in The Way of the Brave -- as they fight against their hearts, their false narratives, and the brute strength of a hurricane! Like...why aren't you reading this book right now?
The hurricane angle in The Heart of a Hero hooked me right away! This had such a disaster movie vibe -- with an incredible faith angle, but more on that in a moment! Between the ragtag crew, the danger from the storm itself, and the danger the storm unleashed (no spoilers!), each new development had my eyes rushing to keep up with the flipping pages. And my little scaredy-cat self is thankful I got to experience these terrifying ordeals from the safety of my cozy nook!
As the title suggests, Jake and Aria struggled with their hero hearts. Jake believed himself to be more villain than hero; Aria believed her life to be a mistake, causing her to fear actually living life. And God's heart leapt from the pages as Jake and Aria grappled with surrendering their hearts to Him. This story is for anyone who has ever believed they must be worthy of forgiveness through the qualifying lens of a debt that can never be repaid while an internal shame megaphone reminds them of this over and over again. This story is for everyone because it proclaims these freeing truths: we are forgiven, washed clean, and loved.
Four Stars ~ The Heart of a Hero by Susan May Warren is thrilling, healing, and not to be missed! The Heart of a Hero is the second book in the author's Global Search and Rescue Series. This could be read as a standalone; however, the backstory and an on-going mystery will be more easily understood if the series is read in order.
Possible triggers ~ Death, traumatic situations, physical attacks.
