mar5 Stars Out Of 5The Greatest Gift: An Advent DevotionalJanuary 7, 2016marQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Ann did not disappoint in writing this devotional. I always love how she words things. This book helped me focus my eyes on Jesus during the advent season and the reflection questions at the end helped me to put into practice what I had learned. A great book and will read it again next advent.
Jesse3 Stars Out Of 5Guess I'm the ExceptionDecember 13, 2015JesseQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1Ann has given us a day by day study to remind us of Christ's lineage leading up to his birth. The Biblical passages created a new awareness of many Old Testament stories that I had never thought of as being connected to Advent. That said, he textual comments are disconnected and in many cases, are reduced to "one liners" that you would find on a Hallmark card. I did like her daily questions and personal challenges to create a meaningful Advent season.
Daryl5 Stars Out Of 5The Greatest Gift: An Advent DevotionalMarch 4, 2015DarylQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 5Ann Voscamp is a poignant, relatable author. Her book follows the full advent of the coming of Christ from the roots of the first sin-infected humans to the coming of God who in-fleshes Himself in order to die the death necessary to redeem this broken world and sin-deadened humanity. She follows the Biblical narrative of the whole story of man's creation, fall, and redemption. It is Christmas at it's fullest and I highly recommend it. I use it with my students to track Christmas from the very beginning.
