Tell us a little about yourself. I am the author of eleven novels and novellas, both historical and contemporary romance. When I'm not writing I love gardening, cooking healthy meals for friends and family, arranging flowers, reading, and traveling with my husband . . . especially to see our children and grandchildren.
What was your motivation behind this project? When I watched the English television series Downton Abbey I fell in love with the Edwardian time period. That inspired me to begin my research and plan a trip to England to learn more about it and see some of these beautiful places for myself. I think anyone who enjoys Downton Abbey or novels like Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice will be eager to read The Governess of Highland Hall. It will appeal to readers who enjoy romantic stories that carry them away to another time and place and include fascinating characters who face dramatic, emotional choices.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope readers will identify with the characters and be inspired to trust God and follow Him in spite of challenges and hardships. I think they will also be encouraged by the focus on loving your family.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? My husband and I took a delightful research trip to England and made some wonderful memories together. As I stepped into the heroine's character, I was challenged to think about my calling and how important it is to follow God's leading in every season of my life.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I have been encouraged and influenced by many wonderful authors - Cathy Gohlke, Terri Gillespie, Vickie McDonough, Julie Kalssen, Liz Curtis Higgs, Kristy Dykes, and many others.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I hope readers will enjoy The Governess of Highland Hall and feel like they have stepped back in time and taken a trip to England. I'd like to invite you to visit my website to learn about the story and see photos of our research trip to England, the charcters, and setting. I love to connect on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!
