The Girl Behind the Red Rope is excellent. I am finding I am liking Rachelle Dekker more and more after reading her books. She writes this book with her father Ted Dekker. A story of a cult based on fear, fear called fury. Grace is a different girl who is forced to walk outside the boarders and she seems to be getting deeper and deeper into problems within the cult. Right away you can't help feeling sorry for Grace. Forced to marry an older man she is made to follow extreme laws that the cult follows. She sees her father after 10 years and he introduced to Eli, her step brother. But who is Eli really? Is he an angel or is he the Son of Man or he a fury. trying to help Grace to show what eh cult really is? Right away you find Eli is different, and even though Grace seems to get herself in more trouble, she wants to help him. The ending is amazing. What will happen to Grace when the community finds she is helping Eli? So sad and a eye opener. This book reminds me of This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti, a classic all Christians should all read. It will have you questioning good and evil, but who is who in this book? I highly recommend this read. Such an eye opener for anyone who reads this great book!!

Like father- like daughter( my first Rachelle Dekker book, I have read most of Ted Dekker books). Like all Ted Dekker books it makes you think. It makes you look at yourself and your beliefs. It opens your eyes to a different way/ realization of what you thought was truth. " aha moments" ...and a few predictable moments as well.

Not sure why I have never read anything by Ted or Rachel Dekker but I'm sure glad I finally have.

What a great book. So many questions, I had no idea what was really going on, who Grace could really trust? Who was speaking the truth or twisting it? I had my suspicions but it was convincing and I think that it the point. We have to be careful who we believe and what we believe.

There are moments of heart-pounding action, I was on the edge of my seat reading and moment of reflection, but never a dull moment.

If you like books that a bit different then I highly recommend this read.

A copy of this book was given to me. All opinions are my own.

I have long been a fan of both Ted and Rachelle Dekker, so when I found out that they were doing a book together, I knew I had to read it. And, man, am I so glad I did!

Going in to this book, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I thought it would be suspenseful (it was) and I thought it would be good (it was) and I thought it would be different (it was).

It was all those things and so much more and when I started reading, all of my presuppositions went out the window because, yes, it was different than I thought it would be, but in the very best way.

That being saidhere's what I can say about The Girl Behind the Red Rope.

The characters were so very, very well done. They were flawed, yes, and very misguided, but I thought that they were portrayed in real light. Honestly, I can't say that I would act any differently if I were put in the same situation. Grace in particular though, really got me. At the beginning I didn't really like her, I thought she was pathetic and a wimp and needed more of a backbone. But as the book progressed, she changed so much and it was wonderful and so real to see.

The story itself was amazing. It was all about fear and exploring how we fear so many things and how we're often enslaved to our fear. It becomes so much a part of us, we don't even realize it. The plot surrounding that theme of fear was so unique and different from what I had expected, but I don't think it could have been any better than it was.

Honestly, I don't know what else to say. This book was fantastic and will most likely be on my "Favorite Books of the Year" list because it impacted me that much. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense, but doesn't mind weirder things like angels and demons and fear, dark, and light personified.

    Content Warnings:

While this book was amazing, I want some to know there was some violence in it (abusive father mentioned and some beatings and death). There were also some intense scenes involving darkness personified. While none of these were graphic at all, I just wanted to put that out there in case anyone wanted to know.

**I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher, but was in no way required to give a positive review. All opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are my own.**

Please there maybe some spoilers below.

The Girl Behind the Red Rope by Ted Dekker and Rachelle Dekker takes place in a location called Haven Valley. Grace, her mother, and brother Jamie have lived in this community for thirteen years in the safe confines of Haven Valley away from the Fury that lurk the Earth. When Jamie and Grace become curious on what is on the outside of the perimeter, their lives change forever, as it is forbidden and sinful to question the community they live in.

After Jamie is attacked by the Fury of the evil world and comes back a different person, the community looks at Grace a sinful creature not respecting the rules as they have been given. Grace is soon protected by a spiritual object called Wisdom (referred to as Bobbie), who tells her that no one is trust worthy. When Rose, the community leader, discovers that Grace helped her brother and his curiosity to find out what was beyond the boundary, she feels threatened. Everyone in the community, including Grace's husband, whom she does not love and is only married to propagate the pure world, is ashamed of her behavior.

At the same time, Grace discovers she is pregnant, two strangers come to town; Ben and Eli. Grace soon learns that Ben is her father and that Eli is her unknown brother. Ben's final living request of his daughter Grace is to protect Eli no matter what. Although, Grace is confused of this particular request, she feels an urgency to abide this request and protect this unknown brother of hers.

Will Grace risk her life, her baby's existence, and the ones she loves to protect this unknown brother, Eli? Will she be killed in the process? Well you will have to pick up the book for yourself at one of your local or online retailers.

This book was very suspenseful, I'm still shaking thinking about everything that happened in the book. I recommend this novel to young adults, because of the action in the book. It's pretty intense. Lastly, I want to say that I received this book as a complimentary copy. I was not require to leave a review The opinions in this review are solely mine. I want to thank the publisher, Revell, and authors for making such a thrilling novel. It's one of those books that made an impression on me. Thank you.
