THE GIFT WRAPPED BRIDE is a typical hatred to love romance. Sophie was not happy with her parents for moving to Chicago and parading her around as a horse gone to auction to eligible bachelors. She's also less than thrilled that her enemy Noah Jackson seems to be relentlessly pursing her. Noah made some mistakes, but now he has a heart for God and for troubled youth. Not only that, but he knows how to reach them. I really liked Noah and his wisdom and persistence in pursing Sophie. Sophie I wanted to sit down and have a good talking to about her rudeness. The ending was very rushed.

I loved this being set in Chicago before it became a large city. It was a nice novella about how one can learn to be a more compassionate person as you grow older. Every one should be given a second chance. I received this novella from Barbour publishing for a fair and honest opinion.

The Gift Wrapped Bride is the fourth book in Barbour Publishings The 12 Brides of Christmas series. Im sorry to say that I didnt enjoy it much past chapter two. I found the story intriguing when it opened, but quickly lost interest. Ms. Lang did a very good job with the descriptions and details, but the story itself just fell flat. I was unable to connect with the characters and there wasnt really anything to hold my attention.

Sophie Stewart is one of the main characters and I really wanted to like her, but she seemed so childish. The entire story she denies Noah even the slightest chance, because of all of the pranks he played on her during school. Even though she hasnt seen him in five years and it is quite evident that hes changed, she refuses to accept that he isnt the same annoying boy as when he left. I dont understand how she could hold such a grudge about something so minor as a few harmless pranks. She ignores him, is rude, refuses to accept his help, and definitely will not allow his courting her.

Noah Jackson is the hero and I felt so bad for him. The way Sophie treats him is terrible and he just keeps coming back, determined to show her the change in him. He is very sweet and kind to her, always looking out for her best interests. I had really hoped for his sake, that he would move on and find someone else.

I expected this to be a sweet romance, but honestly, there wasnt any romance at all until the last few pages. I have no idea how the characters managed to fall in love, because they spent very little page time talking. Sophie did her best to be Noahs enemy throughout the story, so Im not quite sure how she had such a startling turn around right at the end. It seemed quite unbelievable that she would suddenly love him, even after realizing that he isnt the villain she had painted him as being.

The only reason Im giving this book two stars is because of the spiritual element. The subject was on forgiveness and the Lords ability to change people when they come to Him. I really appreciated the importance Ms. Lang put on this and how she used the characters actions and reactions to illustrate the point.

Im truly sorry that I didnt enjoy this novella. I had high hopes for it, but it sadly fell short of them.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

Sophie and her family move to a growing Chicago where her brother and his friend had moved 5 years earlier. Noah was a bully when he was younger and Sophie doesnt want to give him a second chance. This is a sweet, simple story of Christmastime romances, building trust and learning to grow up. I loved the Christmas program in the story and how Noah incorporated those in need into it. A reminder to us all that people can change from when they were kids.

I received this book for an honest review.

Sophie Stewart's move from Toledo, Ohio to Chicago, Illinois gets off to a rough start, in more ways than one. Upon arrival in the noisy city, her family's team of horses is startled into panic mode, sending their wagon careening out of control. They survive catastrophe when a quick-thinking rider rescues the reins. Only this hero is no stranger, he is Noah Jackson, Sophie's brother Arthur's best friend and Sophie's childhood nemesis. Noah teased Sophie mercilessly during their school-age years and Sophie is in no mood to accept the face that this homegrown bully might have morphed into a handsome, respectable young man.

Noah has noticed a few changes in Sophie, though. And he is conflicted about how to convince her that his heart has been changed from within and that she can trust him to be much more than a friend. He introduces Sophie's exceptional artwork to Ezra Pooley, his Chicago mentor, who gives Noah the contacts that he needs to give Sophie the gift of her dreams on Christmas Eve.

This is a simple story, with few main characters and a rather predictable ending. Nevertheless, it's a nice addition to a collection of Christmas stories designed to share the true joy of the Christmas season. I received a copy of this story from the publisher in return for my honest opinion.
