I had high hopes for The Gift of a Legacy after reading the reviews, I was disappointed in it. The idea was very interesting, it fell flat for me mostly because it was so fake. There was this rich young man called Joey, he appeared to have been living a self indulgent life, the worst thing he ever did was ride a noisy motorbike into a funeral. The story was supposed to be about Miss Sally's legacy but it was a repeat of an earlier legacy.
Everyone in the story was rich with the exception of the little girl Stephanie, but her parents role in the story was neglibible, we never learned anything about them.
I would not recommend this book to a soul, it was exceedingly shallow, and had very little substance. I think I learned more about how fabulous everyone else was, than anything about Joey.
I'm glad the book is finished and had it not been an ebook, I'd toss it in the bin.
I enjoyed the book. I have read the books prior to this one about teaching the young people how to share and help others and not be so absorbed in themselves. This book shared more about doing for others and not have everything handed to them. The young man was a happy guy after he learned the message of sharing. Highly recommend this book.
A good read. It is a thought provoking story , addressing many life issues as gifts. It is a story of a young man who is to inherit a large estate if he meets the requirements in his great-grandmothers will. I would recommend this book .
We are truly blessed when we inherit a godly legacy. The Gift of a Legacy tells the journey of a young man who does not know or appreciate the legacy he has inherited from his great-grandmother, Sally May Anderson. Mrs. Anderson has operated a bed and breakfast for many years. During that time, she has interacted and blessed many famous and many regular folks. Upon her passing, she wishes her great grandson, Joey, to not only inherit Anderson House, but also inherit the legacy of the blessing of Anderson House. The only problem, Joey neither wants nor cares about any godly legacy. All he is interested in is more money to fuel his wild lifestyle.
To assist Sally May, we meet old friends from The Ultimate Gift, Theodore Hamilton, Jason Stevens, and Red Stevens. Jason and Mr. Hamilton help walk Joey through a similar journey that Jason took several years before when he received a large responsibility from his grandfather. This is a lovely book and one wishes that a real visit to Anderson House was possible.
I received this from the publisher, David C Cook, in exchange for my honest review.
The Gift of a Legacy is tender story reminding us that shifting the focus from ourselves to others usually ends up changing us, and often times even the world.
In this heartfelt and inspirational book, Stovall explains that our real "wealth" lies not in our Financial Assets, but our Emotional Assets: the stories, lessons, values, wisdom image, voice, laughter and love that make us who we are. The giving of one's self to others is one of the greatest legacies you can leave behind to have others follow in your footsteps. I really enjoyed this book.
