Publisher's Description

Linda Hayner’s historical fiction novel, The Foundling, begins on a cold January morning 1644 at a parish church in London. Willy, a four-year-old foundling, has been abandoned on the porch steps where the parish constable finds him. The orphaned child is taken in and is cared for throughout his childhood. Eventually Willy is apprenticed to an ironmonger to learn how to make his own way in life. But when his circumstances abruptly change, he must rely on his natural ingenuity and his early training in order to survive.

This book had a lot of action. The characters seemed very real and I could relate to some of their problems. This book is very hard to put down!

We did this book as a family read aloud. The whole family (including Dad) couldn't wait for the next night's reading.Truly helps children appreciate God's many blessings in their own lives.

This is a really fun book. The charming and informative story is set during the English civil wars and centers on a boy abandoned by his mother. An excellent book that doesn't "talk down" to the reader.
