I have read all three of the books in this series and was enjoying myself until things got weird (especially in this book) one of the characters suddenly becomes Mr Hyde and goes so against the character I knew from before- and not by degrees but radically changes. Things seem to get more confusing as they go along and well- I will not be sharing this book with my unmarried daughter.

The Forgiven Duke was a very enjoyable story. When I began reading this book, I soon realized that it was book two in a series. I generally try to start from the beginning when I read a series, but occasionally end up in a situation where I have not read a previous book. The author did a good job of catching me up and I followed along just fine in this story.

I really felt invested in these characters. Both Alexandria and Gabriel made decisions based on trying to control their situations. This is a very common, human thing to try to do. Much of the book follows Alexandria and the journey she goes on after making a decision based on fear, rather than trusting and waiting for Gods guidance in her life. Her dealings with Lord John, as a result of her impetuous decision, add great tension to Alexandrias situation. Gabriel also seems inclined to try to control things. I gather that in the first book he did this even more. But, the need to try to take charge of a situation still guides many of his decisions. I felt for him and the challenges he faced.

Both characters grow a lot in this story. I felt for both of them in the trials they faced and was amazed at all they both had to go through. The middle of the story did drag a bit for me, but after a short while the pace picked up again. The end of the book is not a cliff hanger, but it does leave a few things open that will need to be resolved in book three. I am looking forward to reading it, too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from B&H Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

One more reason I LOVE Inspirational fiction!

Forgive me for this but I hope they NEVER make this into a movie because they'll just ruin it. The story is absolutely perfect as it is. I can not think of one thing I would change about it - even though I now have to move on to another book to continue the story_

Actually I'm quite happy about that because it means the adventure has not yet come to a close and that would be tragic indeed.

The 2nd book in Jamie Carie's Forgotten Castles series - "A Forgiven Duke" -

is just as remarkable as the 1st.

The highly unpredictable adventure of Lady Alexandria Featherstone continues with Duke Gabriel hot on her trail - or so it seems_ I won't spoil it for you. Just read it!

The tone of this second book is a bit more serious but Jamie Carie still finds room for hilarity and the typical missteps of her delightful characters.

Be careful though - you just might find yourself sitting up at all hours, because the book is just as difficult as the first, when it comes to putting it down.

Jamie Carie is an exceptionally talented author, carrying us along on this wild adventure. She is quite skilled at revealing snippets of what lies beneath the exterior of characters who give the appearance of being absolutely uncomplicated on the surface. And her skill certainly does not end there. The depth with which she describes the scenes around our characters are so vivid, you can almost hear hoof beats all around you.

    Don't miss this book!

And don't worry if you read them out of order. Personally I always like to read a series in order but every now and then, it simply can not be done. Of course, you won't want to miss the first book: The Guardian Duke but this book is written so well that you can easily read it out of order if you must.

Thank you to B&H Publishing for providing me with a free review copy!

    Another cliffhanger of a read.

The saga continues! As Alexandria follows the trail her missing parents left, with Gabriel on her. Gabe is taken captive by the King's men who are convince that he holds the special information for a weapon of war. What will happen next in this novel of many twists and turns? Will Alexandria escape the clutches of her fiance, John?

Do not pick up this series unless you plan on reading them all! Loads of drama, that really keeps that pages turning. I liked how the book moved at a fast pace, and how the characters were well developed, though there were times that I thought they acted differently than I would have expected.

I really liked how in this second book it focus more on Gabe's spiritual growth and his faith grew so much in this book. I also was so glad that Alex finally realized that in the way she was acting she wasn't fully trusting God as she should, so she really grew too.

I don't really know what to make of how in the book Gabe was able to "see" music as colorful lights. I don't really know much about it or if it could happen or not, but it did strike me as a bit intriguing and strange.

Overall a great follow up to The Guardian Duke, I will note that this is the kind of the series where you kind of have to read them in order and you have to read them all, or I think the experience would be a bit maddening! Though I thought that this book ended much better than the first, which I will honestly say drove me a little crazy ;) A page turner for sure!

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!

The second book in her series, Jamie continues Alexandria Featherstone's determination to find her parents. The struggles that face her and The Duke of Easton seem impossible to overcome. Alex suffers at the hands of those who want her parent's knowledge and the missing manuscript pages. Will they stop at nothing? Threats come from surprising places. But with a growing faith the Duke is committed to her rescue, even if it means putting his life in grave danger. Love knows no fear.
