I am in my first year of homeschooling and still have many questions. This book has been extremely encouraging and helpful offering many personal stories/testimonials from home-schoolers around the globe. This book is completely down-to-earth and an easy read.

If you lean towards unschooling or very loosely structured homeschooling, then Linda Dobson's books (any of them) will be useful and encouraging to you. If you tend to be more structured or standards based, then I would not recommend any of her books to you. I tend to be more structure than unstructured and I have been encouraged much more by books like Christine Field's Life Skills For Kids, The Well Trained Mind, or The Home School Manual.

I bought this book for a pick me up, when things got me down. I had homeschooled my daughter through preschool and I am now doing kindergarten. So, I had read a lot already and just wanted some new information, if any. I thought it was just a little to long winded, thats why I didn't give it a 5. Same old stuff but some very good advice mixed in. If you are just starting homeschooling or thinking about it, buy this book. Otherwise, if you are just reviewing, go to the library.
