Great information and excellent planning tool for everyone.

I love books and planners. So I had high expectations for this book. It met them and so much more! The writer does a great job of combining experience with gardening facts. I have gardened in some form almost my whole like. This book is great for beginners or long time gardeners. It takes all the guess work out of planning a garden and gives you great tips and information. This book is even better when combined with her " Family Garden Planner." The book has some work pages where you can write down info about your garden: what you want to plant, when you planed it, and so much more but the planner gives you even more room to record your garden plan and keep track of it. This is by far is one of my favorite books gardening or other wise. I have really enjoyed it and am so glad I found it.

Melissa K. Norris has done it again with another amazing book. But instead of teaching you how to cook, she is teaching you how to raise those ingredients yourself. Read through her book Handmade or Made from scratch life, the ingredients can all be bought in a store. But wouldn't it be so cool to learn how to raise the ingredients to make your own salsa or spaghetti sauce. This book will show you how to do that. Gardening gives you more than food, it brings family together raising their own food. It contains everything that a family needs to start a garden year after year. There are a lot of gardening books. But this book is unique and different in its own. It takes the fear out of raising your own food. Each chapter starts off with a verse from the Bible. That verse relates to the subject of that chapter. If you want to know more buy the book.!!!!

This book is wonderful, Melissa steeps her garden knowledge in Christian values as she teaches you on how to evaluate your family's needs and then how to go about achieving those new goals with your garden. You will value this book as a keep sake, and you may want to buy more than one to give as a gift!

If you love to garden or are just getting started you need to read this book! I have been gardening my entire life, it truly is my passion. I have a bookshelf full of gardening books and I must admit that The Family Garden Plan is one of the most well thought out, detailed, straight forward gardening books that I have ever had the pleasure to read. It is one that I will reference again and again. The photos and illustrations that are sprinkled throughout the book are a visual buffet for any gardener who is dreaming about spring greens and dirt under their fingernails. This book has it all! It is loaded with helpful charts regarding companion planting, crop rotation, soil amendment, berry growing and harvest and preserving charts. There are numerous worksheets as well; Fruit and Berry Planning, Preserving Supplies Checklist and a Pest and Disease Record. The author walks you through every step of growing your own garden; from the dreaming and planning to soil preparation, planting and finally harvest. As you peruse the pages of this book you will feel like you are visiting with an old friend. Melissa has a way of connecting with you through the pages by sharing her success and failures, joys and disappointments.
