Product Description

"This volume will deal mostly with ethics, but also with a number of other subjects, grouped around the general title The Doctrine of the Christian Life. The ethics course I taught at Westminster Seminary had that title, but it was James Hurley, as I recall, who suggested to me that the Christian life was much more than ethics. The Christian life is not only a matter of following rules of morality, but a dynamic experience: living in the fallen world, in fellowship with the living God. So in this book I will discuss not only ethics (the normative perspective), but also the culture in which we live (the situational perspective) and the resources of redemption on which we draw daily (the existential perspective)." -from the author's preface

Endorsements

“John Frame’s magnificent work on the Christian life fully endorses the authority of Scripture and practically addresses the need to consider the situations and people involved in ethical decisions.” —Richard L. Pratt Jr., President of Third Millennium Ministries

“I took John Frame’s class on Christian ethics 30 years ago. His wisdom then fundamentally shaped my understanding. It is such a pleasure now to revisit, in print, the fruits of his continued thinking about how we are to live. Frame shows forth God’s commandments as broad and deep, as sweetly adaptable to the varieties of human experience. He shows forth how the person, promises, and actions of our redeemer God are always intrinsic to our wisdom, our faith, and our love. He sets forth a vision for the Christian life that, in fact, in the details, glorifies the God of glory.” —David Powlison, CCEF
