Debra Long5 Stars Out Of 5March 16, 2010Debra LongWe have been on the Daniel's Fast for 16 days now, going for forty. This cookbook has been a real blessing, helping us faithfully follow the guidelines of the fast. Most of the recipes we have tried have been quite delicious, and simple to make. We solidly endorse this book, and hope you will find it to be a pleasurable resource.
Vickie Rakich5 Stars Out Of 5March 5, 2010Vickie RakichI have been incorporating The Daniel's Fast Cookbook into my Daniel Fast. An outstanding book, the cook's expertise shines within the pages of this book. I recommend this book to produce meals that are wonderful to the palate of those who prepare the meal planner provided inside the The Daniel's Fast Cookbook. Five Stars for a book well written. Thank You Grace Bass & Lynda Anderson
Laray3 Stars Out Of 5February 18, 2010LarayI was disappointed because I though the book had a lot of recipes that were totally in-line with the Daniel fast, i.e. strictly fruits and vegetables. I kept the book because the recipes were still very good and healthy.
Michael Scheer3 Stars Out Of 5January 26, 2010Michael Scheerontains alot of information about the biblical basis for Daniel's fast and fasts in general. Recipes often call for food products not normally stockes at home or frequently used. Good for times of fasting.
David Brown5 Stars Out Of 5February 11, 2009David BrownMy wife is not a person who fasts, but when cooking for me, the food looked so good she did not want to cook something else for herself! These recipes are delicious AND satisfying. Daniel was really onto something! I hope there is a sequel!

Tell us a little about yourself. My mother and I make a fantastic team! With our love for God and my mothers talent with food, we have developed over 100 Daniel Fast recipes that are delicious and easy to prepare! Our desire is to help people seek God and provide a tool that will help people successful complete a Daniel Fast. I (Grace Bass) am the mother of four children and wife of Rev. Patrick Bass, Senior Pastor of New Life Church of Tempe in Arizona. I was born and raised in south and central Texas. I am also currently enrolled at Western Governors University as a full time student and homeschool two of our children. My Mother (Lynda Anderson) wife of Lyle Anderson was born and raised in Lake Park, Iowa. For 15 years, she was the Founder and CEO of Des Laurier Perfumes, Inc. While enjoying retirement, she enjoys cooking and serving her community in Lago Vista, Texas. She is widely regarded as a gourmet chef, creating delicious and compelling dishes for the community, her friends and of course, her family.
What was your motivation behind this project? Many years ago, I was introduced to the Daniel Fast. I searched for recipes to help me feed my family and came back lacking. Many of my friends expressed the same frustration; some were unable to complete the fast simply because they didnt know what to eat. Our society has become dependent on fast convenient food; the concept of creating a meal using only vegetables, fruits and whole grains is foreign to most of us! My mom is a gourmet chef, so I asked her for help. She has a unique talent with spices and seems to just know what a dish needs! Our motivation for creating this cookbook comes from our heart, we genuinely want to help people successfully complete their fasts by giving them delicious and easy to prepare recipes.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? We hope to enable people to seek God through prayer and fasting with this cookbook. We included a thorough explanation of the Daniel Fast from a biblical perspective. As well as, practical tips on nutrition, eating out, Daniel Fast friendly products and short cuts. Our desire is for people to focus on God and use the Daniel Fast to draw closer to Him. We have included articles such as: Its not all about the food: Seeking God and taking out the trash. Many of the recipes include a family friendly suggestion for members of your family that are not on the Daniel fast. We found many individuals who grew tired of cooking for themselves and then preparing another meal for their spouse or children. Using the family friendly suggestions eliminates that frustration, thus helping more people complete their fast.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? We personally developed and ate all the recipes in the cookbook. Many of the recipes had to be made several times over to make adjustments and changes to the recipe. Therefore, we predominately ate Daniel Fast food for the duration of the project. I couldnt believe how much better I felt. I had more energy and mental clarity. I also lost a few extra pounds. After this experience, I made many permanent changes to my diet. My mother, Lynda, feels many of her inspirations for the recipes came from God. She told me of a time she was a little frustrated and didnt know what to do with the ingredients in front of her. As she stood there looking at all the vegetables, she felt the Lord and started putting a dish together. It was marvelous!! The end result was the Orange Broccoli Stir Fry!!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Rev. Elmer L Towns, Co-Founder of Liberty University & Dean, School of Religion in Lynchburg, Virginia, has authored over 50 books. One of which brought the Daniel Fast to the attention of many Christians world- wide: Fasting for Spiritual Breakthroughs. I am very thankful to him for endorsing our cookbook: "I believe in Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough, this is a discipline that God has given to the church for renewal, revival, and worship of the Lord. I am so glad that Grace Bass and Lynda Anderson have written this cookbook on The Daniel Fast. I pray that God will use it in the lives of many people." Elmer L. Towns Co-Founder, Liberty University Dean, School of Religion Lynchburg, Virginia
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Here are what others are saying about The Daniel's Fast Cookbook: *****Hallelujah!! The First Daniel Fast Cookbook, February 9, 2008 By MICHAEL FARHO "Mike" (Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire) We've been searching for this cookbook since 2003. What encourages us most about Grace and Lynda's Daniel's Fast Cookbook is that it is endorsed by Elmer Towns, who created the Daniel Fast for Spiritual Breakthrough in his book Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough. *****Heart Healthy That Tastes Good Too !, By David A. Butler "Dr. David A. Butler" (Cedar Park, TX) There has never been a cookbook like the Daniel's Fast Cookbook! If you are a vegan, or just want to have a heart healthy diet, then this is the cookbook for you. I have personally sampled many of these recipes and they are quite delicious and easy to prepare. I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone wanting to explore a healthier lifestyle. Having high blood pressure and heart problems myself, my wife has struggled with having to make substitutions in traditional recipes. With the Daniel's Fast Cookbook, she can follow the recipes exactly and know that she is preparing "Heart Healthy" dishes. Thank you Lynda Anderson and Grace Bass.
